I can't see how someone can accuse you of being a racist because you asked a reasonable question and are entitled to an answer.
I'm not sure though that we all shared the same history...more we are all in the same boat, so to speak, but everyone would have a different prespective. I think it's reasonable for there to be a Black History Month..I cannot see the harm in it.
There was a fasinating study done decades ago by Cambridge ( I think) where a dozen people of all varieties and colours were placed on a tube carriage and various people were asked to get on and get off the train and note their thoughts about the other passengers.
The results were astounding..ie : a middle aged lady would see a young black man and say she thought he was threatening..or a young black girl would get on and fancy the young black guy but think the punk rocker was threatening. Basically everyone had really diverse views on everyone else in the carriage and it was impossible to get a real picture of the 12 in the carriage.
Even stranger..not one single person agreed when giving physical descriptions which I believe was used eventually in the cops not taking too much notice of eyewitness descriptions.
I think I'm rambling
