Panorama : " Are you a danger to kids" Monday Night 8.30p.m 14 Years, 2 Months ago
Looks like this programme will be worth a watch.

The preview says "9 million" are considered a danger to kids.

Of course having a "Government Piece of paper" makes you safe with kids : the irony is that the NURSERY TEACHER at the centre of the 2009 Paedo scandal had the CRB check clearance - proving that these checks actually dont work and in fact make things worse because the Government has brainwashed people into thinking that a CRB check is TOTAL PROOF of innocence.

Actors and Theatres now a target.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1249306...ng-child-actors.html

Incredible.

We are but one step away from a TOTALITARIAN STATE/ When you consider that only 20 million people work in the UK_ - this law is suggesting that over half the population needs a PAEDO CHECK ( good money for BROWN's mates ).

This is a NEW TAX on working.

I have to admit I hesitated when a friend of mine asked if I could pick up her son from his West End theatre production, to save her yet another run into the city. I did a quick check and found that I didn't need a CRB certificate just to do that one run, but I still felt awkward, and it should not have been like that. He'd had a great night, and we had a happy chat on his way home, but the government have soured even the most brief encounters with children by spreading fear and paranoia through various hair brained and pointless new laws. When he gave me a goodnight hug I was wondering how many cameras were taking a record of the event.

That all sounds a bit stupid, and a few years ago I would have laughed at the idea that I could feel so oppressed in my own country, but the sense of insecurity was all too genuine. Maybe this is the real reason why Britain is broken.

I think every person in the UK now feels under threat and suspicion. Excellent post.

It is too dangerous to speak to anyone outside your family unit if they are under 18 years old these days because the implications for everyone are massive. New Labour will stop you from working in all areas of the economy if they single you out for "treatment".

We truly are living in the "BIG BROTHER STATE" - it is here now.

I just watched this programme and am incensed by what's going on. The government are set to make a staggering £277 million pounds out of this in the next three years and, during the next five years, everyone in employment in the UK will have to pay £64 to be vetted with a CRB check to "prove" that they're not a child molestor. In effect, a new tax.

Also, the system will, besides relying on information contained in real criminal records, where there are any, also rely on rumour and suspicion. So, just as there are maliciious people who, for the hell of it, make hoax 999 calls to the fire brigade, there will also be malicious people who will contact the agency and say that Fred Bloggs who lives at the end of their street told them that he fancied little boys. This will be added to the record, even though there's no evidence to support the allegation and, when Fred Bloggs' employer has a CRB check done on him, it will contain the information that Fred is believed to fancy little boys. Fred will lose his job and, even if he appeals, will most probably lose the appeal (as the man in the programme did) and the malicious lie will remain on his record.

As Ian MacKellan and others said in the programme: "They are trying to fix a problem that doesn't really exist." "They are using a huge sledgehammer to crack a very small nut!" and "It used to be in this country that a person was innocent until proved guilty. Now we are saying that everyone is a paedophile unless they can prove they're not!" The best thing for everybody in this country to do with this ridiculous legislation is refuse to comply with it. They can't lock everyone up. There aren't enough prison places. People must fight this money-making scam that has been brought in on the pretext of protecting children from, well, from everybody, really.

Will the TORIES get rid of this ?

They are committed to cancelling the ID CARDS.

Therefore, I would have thought they would also on principle be committed to cancelling this crazy plan.

It is a tax and a way for them to STOP people who dont vote NEW LABOUR from getting employment. I would suspect that there are "NEW LABOUR CELLS" of people who will make allegations at known TORY voters in their area - then these people will find themselves failing "checks" and being suspected by their community.

This has always been the plan with "TERRORISM" and "PAEDHYSTERIA" - these two things have been hyped by the BBC and media in order to pass these "laws" which will mean the STATE will decide if you are a TERRORIST or PAEDO. This means that the STATE can take away your freedom or job at a moments notice.

Dangerous times - and those walking around with their heads in the sand will wake up when it HAPPENS TO THEM.

I agree boycotting this silly scheme is best. If all those who work with children refuse to PAY for these checks then they cant be done.

And we are supposed to be a civilized society?

None of this is going to offer long term protection to the people that are currently children. It will smother and restrict them while they are young and oppress and stifle them once they are older. They will grow in a society of mistrust, fear and paranoia, unable to form proper, fulfilling relationships, and falling well short of the required social and practical skills needed to help them survive everyday life.

This government is either amazingly short sighted, or it has deeply sinister motives. For either of these reasons, and for the security of our nation, they must be removed from office at the earliest possible date.

"Sinister motives" is my view of this law.
