TOPIC: The Gordon and Piers Show

The Gordon and Piers Show 14 Years, 3 Months ago
Well I thought it was fascinating; it confirmed my opinion that Gordon is a decent, well intentioned man; I really like Piers as an interviewer; I felt it was perfectly natural and appropriate that he discussed his problems with life and the sad events with his children - and I still think he'll win the election with a hung Parliament.

I think Piers is one of those really great people that you love to dislike but can't help but like..like Russell Harty !

a hung parliament would be perfect.
No-one deserves to win.

Pure electioneering.
Most bad politicians can come across as very nice people. Apparently Himler was a social delight. I judge politicians on their policies and performance, not on how big their smile is or what kind of family life they have. Nice man or not, Gordon Brown is a crap PM.

I wasn't drawn in by the whole circus. A cynical attempt by Labour to get voters to sympathise a few months before the election. I expect Cameron will be on the bandwagon soon as well. However they are politicians at the end of the day and, like Blofeld crave power over people - so this can only be expected!

I also got fed up with ITV's lazy advertising of this show as well during the week. Rather than show different little snippets, they showed the same Morgan questioning, 'Did you have girlfriends?' and 'Are you a plonker?' sections. This seemed to happen during every commercial break.

Did not watch it.

I dont like politicians selling themselves in a run up to an election. Remember OBAMA - he promised loads yet yesterday we saw 12 civilians killed in Afganistan in the "new" war he has started.

Real change comes when a leader stands up and says - no more wars from us unless we defend ourselves. No more ripping off the third world. No more taxing the poor heavily and letting the rich get richer. No more "free lunches" for benefit scroungers.

We really need a change. Brown has failed - regardless of 1000s of staged interviews - he cant manage the country properly with everything he has done failing spectacularly - from the moment he sold our Gold in the 90s for a knockdown price costing the country BILLIONS.

A hung parliament is not a good thing as Italy shows. We need a strong Government to come in and CUT the waste to save money in the bloated Public Services. Cut the grant to the BBC - cut the Police - cut taxation and therefore cut jobs in HM taxes. Simplify the benefits system.

Our country resembles a wasteful Soviet Union - overplanned - overstaffed - bloated by the rich - yet with the poor getting poorer.

We need change. GEt rid of ID CARDS - CRB Checks to be only needed for full time work with children. No need for an extra layer of checks. Reform the TERROR laws to put them back to how they were for the IRA ( A bigger threat than Al Q has ever been in the UK ) that makes sense and is decent.

Brown can then have a new career in TV with Piers. I am sure those of you saying how wonderful he is will watch his programme each week.......

Both Brown and Cameron have stooped to all time lows. GOOD GRIEF!! This is clearly using tragedy to gain support.

Vomit inducing.

I have no problem with either of them choosing to be public with their grief. I have big problems with them both being useless and in thrall to the media.

The whole thing was a travesty - a bit like everything 'King Midas In Reverse' touches. What we have is a wooden unsociable political robot trying to court the voting idiots by grimacing a lot and "letting people in", being interviewed by another arrogant charlatan.

I'm not a big fan of Piers, JK. I think he's no better than Max Clifford. He's a blood sucker, and doesn't care about his victims. It's all about him. Sorry.

One of campaign Obama's promises was to increase troop levels and intensify the war in Afghanistan. You might not agree with this action but it's wrong to claim that he promised anything different.

As for Brown. The trailers were enough to put me off. I have no problem with him, or anyone, showing genuine grief in public, but it is interesting that he chose the period leading up to a general election despite having previously made a point of keeping his private and family out of the public domain. You can tell Alistair Campbell is back behind the scenes.

His wife seems to be regressing intellectually and emotionally. She used to be such a sensible person. Now she gushes about her 'hero' from the conference stage, twitters inanely about him to mumsnet and sits in an ITV studio with a camera trained on to where the tears will roll like some sad wannabe auditioning for Big Brother. Pass the sick bag, Attlee.

What would constitute 'growing up'?
Should I run up to Saggy Old Clothcat Alan Johnson and plant a big smacker on his cheek and tell him how great he is and how much "we all love him"? And do the same to Jack "Honest" Straw? That may be what you expect of women that are pushing 50, so maybe that is what you mean?

The high profile Home Secretary is certainly doing next to sod all for his constituency Hull, a city that is truly dying on it's arse (though if he has his fingers in the 'demolition' pie (as some councillors have) he'll be doing very nicely....)

Re:The Gordon and Piers Show 14 Years, 3 Months ago
The "crying" etc was a publicity stunt (anyone notice that Alistair Campbell also had a "breakdown" on the Andrew Marr show recently.

Its all to show the Brown-Noser in a "better light" ready for the election.
All the publicity that he has temper tantrums needs countering LOL !
