His speech - LIVE on BBC News at the moment - is superb. He's a terrific communicator and a very clear thinker. I don't know whether he's right or wrong but he can certainly put it across brilliantly. I like him a lot. I adore his health care plans. If his methods work he could go down in history as the best President ever.

It also highlights even more how utterly abysmal George Dubya was. If only our PM had a fraction of the charisma of Obama. That's what is missing in this country. A leader...someone equally respected by young, middle aged and old alike. Thatcher was far too stony for my tastes...Major was dull...Blair...well the least said about him the better.

Jon Favreau (see Wikipedia) is Obama's main/briliant speech-writer and he wrote this speech and 'yes we can' etc.

Obama just reads the auto-cue well.

Alas, in the current US economic climate, Obama's health care plans are clearly over ambitious and will have to be watered down.

They will need health care over there once the reality of Codex Alimentarius kicks in, then they can 'pretend' to be bothered.
Other than being black, Obama's place in history will have more to do with the future battles with the NWO than any leadership qualities

Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR - he's got a bit further to go than health care.

I think that all politicians have speech writers so that doesn't detract from whether Obama is a decent President or not. He's kept to most of his campaign promises so far, and he still has almost 3 years left in office, so time will tell.

Yes - but Favreau is exceptional; he makes Obama seem to be better than he is.

After a reasonable start, the Obama jury remains well and truly out; this is particularly true in terms of foreign policy where no end seems close to the raging wars.

Better Obama was less of a film star and more of an achiever....

Actually, Obama did tour the Middle East and has eased many underlying tensions which were built up during the Bush era, thus laying the foundations for peace between East and West. He has given an open invitation to Iran for talks, and we do not know what else is being done behind the scenes. The Israel Palestine situation has no easy answers, and Obama made no promise to end the war in Afghanistan, only to make it the main focus for US troops.
