I was scanning headlines today. The main banner stuff was about Andy and Cheryl Cole splitting up, The second was about how Danni Minogue might be quitting X Factor, then way down the list in small lettering was mention of how a couple were killed when their house collapsed on top of them.

The story which should matter most to us is buried under celebrity gossip. It just made me think. Surely this is a reflection of the superficial society we have created.

Have you also noticed how the News (on TV) now contains regularly items which are not news at all - mwerely "plugs" for a programme that the station is putting out later in the day ?

Channel 5's "Live from studio 5" sums up the state of our superficial society. At least the "One show" is mildly educational.
