The BBC are making this out to be the greatest event of the year thus far.

It's not a sport it's bollocks. The most boring spectacle in the entire world.

Lewis Hamilton is a total dullard. But F1 has never produced any great characters with perhaps the exception of James Hunt.

I totally agree, watching cars go round in circles is not my idea of fun and how are you supposed to have any affection or passion for corporate motor companies.

Jenson Button is also a total dullard, he looks like Chris Martin and is even duller. I can't believe that he got 2nd in sports personality of the year. It is not a proper sport as it is more about machines than the body, although I do accept you have to acheive a certain level of fitness to withstand the g-fitness, the level of dedication is knowhere near as much as say Jessica Ennis in the heptathlon.

Hunt died way too young.

He brought colour to a very grey 'sport'.

A very strange sport. I think it attracts those blokes who stand around in a group, wearing short-sleeved shirts and jangling the change in their pockets. The whole 'practice' day thing: you don't get footballers playing a cup final the day before the real thing. What's THAT all about? The mind boggles how much all of that nonsense costs. And yesterday, flicking channels desperately in the hope of finding something not set in a hospital, I came across Nigel Mansell and remembered just how much of a Nigel he was. And what is it with Jackie Stewart and tartan? I actually don't mind him so much, but why does he always happen to be filmed surrounded by tartan? Okay, mate, you're Scottish, we get it! I have enough trouble with Yorkshiremen! What was it George Bernard Shaw said? 'Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it'. Yup. Anyway, Formula 1 - please make it stop. If I really wanted that noise for so long I'd stick the cat inside the vacuum cleaner.

Although not formula 1, Barry Sheene did a similar thing for motorcycle racing. Even his name sounds like he should be a star. He captured our imagination back in the 70's, especially after his major crash, and he became known as the bionic man after his leg was rebuilt with metal.
