you are right Mickey Metal..America is the most wonderful land of such contrasts especially in it's people. You get the very worst to the very best and there is no overall characteristic.
There is a mantra that one can become anything they want which is pure rubbish..especially in the president business as it would mean there could be 300 million presidents.
As to the belief it's always been a capitalist country..never has been never will be. It's always had great swags of socialism mixed into a hybrid form of capitalism which is constantly tettering on corporatism, especially after the great FDR made it far more fair by spreading that socialism even further..which Reagan began dismantlng and very presidenT has ever since except Obama who has made a dent in a country racing to be the vey first full corporatised land.
You always have to look at a person's backers-in Obama's case Wall Street whose best interest is served in having a well off populace but who go haywire if they are not checked by govt regulation (melt down). The US has also become a media run land where people can be convinced to vote against their own interests.
Obama has only made one very small step but I reckon the forces are lining up against him. I think he now really is in more danger than ever because he may succeed. The languaage being used about him by political opponents-'traitor' and so on is appaling.
