[quote] In Monday's speech, Mr Netanyahu also warned that "Iran's brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons... is the threat to the entire world".

He urged the world community to act "swiftly" to "swart this danger". [unquote]

Pot kettle black indeed, ITK.

You could argue that is Israel didn't have nuclear weapons* then maybe Iran wouldn't feel the need to. But then you could apply that across the globe as far as nuclear weapons are concerned.

*I believe Israel has never officially clarified whether it has nuclear weapons, but the consensus seems to be that it does.

It is all so obvious. Jews clearly wanted and needed to protect themselves from another Holocaust - and they have gone too far and now behave like Nazis. Likewise, society rightly wanted to protect innocent children from abuse and it's now gone so far that it is abusing them. Lessons never seem able to be learned by humanity which is why, certainly, it is heading towards self destruction.

There is clearly strong disagreement - for the first time? - between the US and Israel (for example, no public "hand-shaking" etc at yesterdays meeting). Perhaps the USA has (finally) realised that "Israel" is not an "ally" but a self-interest group who will always try to do what it wants?

The UK passport row further emphasises this.

The Yanks have long been seen (worldwide) as too pro-Israel - $3billion in aid easch and every year since 1945 - compared to the $900m for the Palestinians last year - to be a serious power broker and peace-maker in the region ... and I have always maintained that whenever a peace agreement looks likely / possible the Jews will move the goalposts to ensure that it does not happen.

EVERY Jewish settlement (in occupied land) is illegal and the UN has always maintained this (despite US attempts to veto-votes etc). The Jewish answer? Build more !!

I agree totally with your post above, ITK. However, I would replace the word Jewish with the word Israeli. I know that many zealots use religious arguments as justification for the settlements, but I do know many Jewish people who are fundamentally opposed to what Israel is doing.

Otherwise, yes- good post.

there is a huge percentage of Israelis who oppose what their government does but although the word Jew shouldnt be confused with Israeli but it's the many Jewish lobbies that cause it to be.

Even Gerald Kaufmann who was a confirmed Zionist now opposes Israeli government policy.

I'm entitled to apply for an Israeli passport but I doubt I want one these days.

Don't confuse Zionism with Judaism Veritas! Neither are mutually exclusive!

David,

Netanyahu has frequently and recently refered to Israel as "the Jewish state"
