Even MPs now think that "terror laws" should be reviewed ! 14 Years, 1 Month ago

They are finally realising that taking away all our rights and freedoms (many hard fought for over the last 1000 years) WILL NOT make anyone any safer (even if we were at threat in the beginning - which is doubted).

What WILL make us unsafe, is continual attacks on other countries ! (Those currently reviewing the Israeli / USA plans to attack Iran please note !!!)

As the Israelis and Yanks got their heads together on Tuesday I expect a further "announcement" within a few days.

Thanks Veritas,

You left out perhaps the most apt quotation. It's from Winston Churchill, speaking in the House of Commons in 1943, back when this country really did face a serious existential threat. He said:

"The power of the executive to cast a man into prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgement of his peers, is in the highest degree odious, and is the foundation of all totalitarian government, whether Nazi or Communist."

The Terrorism Act 2000 empowers the executive to do just that. You can now be held for 28 days without charge.

Best Wishes,
Jim

And, despite their appalling record of human rights abuses, some people will still vote for Labour.
