I only remembered because somebody reminded me.

It's 11.45 am as I write. I had no idea.I felt safe, comfortable and secure believing it was 10.45am. Then discover someone has stolen a whole hour from me. I do wish we'd stop messing with our clocks.

I forgot, but it wasn't a problem as I have Radio 4 and the BBC World Service on all night and wake up intermittently so am always aware of the time.

(and I wonder why insomnia is my best friend )

They are thinking of having 1 hour extra all year round, so that it will be lighter in the winter evenings too. However farmers are opposed to the idea because they can't see their produce till 9am in the winter, and this will affect business. They tried this idea in the late 60's (before my time) and it was dismissed due to the opposition from farmers.

Robbiex, I have heard that about the farmers too, but what I don't understand is that actual daylight hours are unchanged - whatever the clocks say. Why don't the farmers just forget about messing about with that hour and work in the daylight as needed?

If we can all put our clocks forward (or back) and "pretend" that it is a different time to what it actually is ... why can we not turn the clocks back by 24 hours every Sunday night and have 2 Sundays in every week - and get rid of Monday entirely ?

The clocks going forward only benefits the English and Welsh. Mornings can be darker making it more difficult for farmers, commuters and school kids. Wasn't it brought in for economising fuel useage? We don't need to do this anymore surely?
