The BBC and the Election.... 14 Years ago
Are they trying to make the Tories look stupid? Its just an interview with Theresa May on the News at Ten seemed design to make her look 'odd'.

Steve I don't think so.

The Conservatives were caught on the hop today, after receiving generally favourable coverage during the week.

I am neither Labour nor Conservative, but Cameron got a very easy ride from Evan Davis on Radio 4's Today programme today, whereas Gordon Brown had to face rottweiler John Humphrys.

Swings and roundabouts....

As I've said elsewhere, I think the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg is going to be the 'slow-burning' star of this campaign's political correspondents. Rather like John Cole, the crusty Northern Irish Westminster reporter who very slowly won respect on the Beeb as a shrewd commentator in the 1970s, she looks to me like an unfashionable but very competant observer who is just coming to the stage in her career when she KNOWS she has the authority to tell it like it is. Unlike the rather too self-regarding male figures like Nick Robinson, who looks like he's escaped from a Doonsbury cartoon, or ITV's Tom Bradbury, who already seems to have caught Trevor McDonald's absurd delusions of being Britain's Walter Cronkite, or any of the Kay Burley diva types on Sky, Kuenssberg just steadily does her job, and, while she won't get any Sunday supplement profiles printed about her, I'm sure she'll win more and more followers as the weeks go on. One to watch.
