TOPIC: The big debate
#56822
The big debate 14 Years, 1 Month ago
Am I the only person (used, I suppose, to US debates) to think we've had debates here for ages? After all, we never stop seeing the boring, dull, ghastly politicians waffling on - in Parliament, on the news, on Question Time... I almost certainly will NOT be watching; I don't care what they say, I already know what they will say ("our thoughts and prayers are with friends and loved ones..."). And I guarantee it will make not one jot of difference who is elected, be it Raving Loony or BNP.

Because we are governed by MEDIA and all that matters is...

IS IT A GOOD STORY?

TV this morning was claiming that there would be 30 million viewers ! How do they justify such claims ?

I think that the vast majority of thickies would prefer an extended edition of Emmerdale !

I shall find Have I Got News and Outnumbered far more entertaining and informative.

Three boring men; boring format; I've given them 20 minutes - HIGNFY here I come; bye bye debate (though I shall be voting Lib Dem - Clegg is at least fresh; and I like their prisons approach).

Oh dear, I accidentally caught two minutes of the only man able to make all three politicians look attractive. Nick Knowles! Why is Nick Knowles?

Watching Question Time it seems everyone else felt Nick Clegg was best. Could we actually see the unimaginable - a Lib Dem victory? I must say, of the three he was the most impressive. I also think he has the most attractive (and sensible) wife.

I think the Lib Dems have my vote. And everyone I've voted for so far has won!

Watched about half an hour and then watched One Foot in the Grave.
Same old bottom covering, lies, paper-thin sincerity. I have to say I liked Nick Clegg out of the 3 but it will be a bit like Hobson's choice in the end. Watching on HD, you can see how good the make-up was. Sweaty, shiny foreheads would not have looked good so they were foundationed to within an inch of their lives. However, Brown appeared grey, and Cameron was certainly getting pink around the collar and his spammy forehead.

I would never base my vote purely on who came across best in one debate. I didn't watch it and so cannot comment on who said what. I'm more concerned with the policies and general direction of the party they each currently lead. It's theoretically possible that each of these three could lose their seats, which makes this Presidential style of debate quite pointless.
