TOPIC: Debate 3
#57281
Debate 3 14 Years ago
I'm obviously out of step - I thought Cameron was ghastly - glib, slimy, superficial, android, horrid. Clegg was OK but not great. Gordon Brown was far the most impressive.

I shall still vote Lib Dem but I bet thousands are swinging towards Labour - I also bet they won't admit it except in the voting booths.

Surprised at your comments, JK ! Brown "impressive" ? I thought he looked battered and beaten ... he knows he's a dead man. Most of the media commentators agree.

As for "swinging to Labour" ... I expect the reverse. Their support (such as it is) will evaporate now that everyone can see that they are facing the most humiliating defeat in recent history.

Just as no one will now admit to supporting B-Liar over Iraq (although there were plenty around at the time who did, and are now embarrassed that they "fell for it"), so, in a few days time you will not be able to find a single person who will claim to be a Labour supporter (except, perhaps, for a Mrs G Brown).

Even Mrs Duffy has gone silent (till she gets in the ballot booth) ...........

The polls (after the debate) say differently, JK -

YouGov puts the Tory leader on 41%, followed by Nick Clegg on 32% and Gordon Brown on 25%.

ComRes had Mr Cameron two points ahead of Mr Clegg on 35%, with Mr Brown trailing in third on 26%.

And Angus Reid put the Tory leader on 37% - eight points ahead of Mr Clegg on 29% and 14 points ahead of Mr Brown on 23%.

However, a Populus poll for the Times put Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg level-pegging on 38% with Mr Brown on 25%.

And an ICM poll for the Guardian has Mr Brown in second place on 29% following Mr Cameron on 35% with Mr Clegg on 27%.

It means Sky News' Instant Poll of Polls puts the Tory leader on 38%, the Lib Dem leader on 32% and the PM on 26%.

It's ok, JK, this election will soon be over and then you can stop taking the tablets.

Gordon Brown is certainly more like an old fashioned politician. The other two come across with a complete lack of a distinctive character or like they have been bred out of the same marketing machine.

It makes me think that Naom Chomsky is correct. The times are ripe for a charasmatic leader like a Hitler to emerge and if he is honest..fascism will soon be upon us.
