I have to admit I'm really loving the Danny Baker Radio show on 5 live on Saturday mornings. His level of humour and use of the English language are just brilliant.
This has to be one of the best shows on the radio (also on freeview tv), particularly if your a footie fan. I highly recommend it, I often find myself laughing out loud on the train to his podcasts. for example "Parrots have the second best tongues in the animal kingdom, after a tortoise's. A tortoises tongue are like minature our tongues". Try and think about a tortoises tongue without laughing.
I didn't put this on the tipsheet as he doesn't play any music on his show.
He's a smashing fellow. About a year ago (first on BBC London and then on BBC2), he mentioned, for no PR reason, a biography about Terry-Thomas a chum of mine had written and, within about an hour, the sales shot through the roof.
He's not to everyone's taste, but I love the fact he sounds like a real individual who actually thinks while he broadcasts, unlike the majority of robotic jocks who clog up the airwaves. Each show feels fresh and surprising. That's what good radio should be like.
