TOPIC: Right - I've voted
#57549
Right - I've voted 13 Years, 12 Months ago
In the pretty little church that serves as our local Polling Station; ticked my LibDem box for Mr Blackburn... as usual the only canvassers outside noting voter numbers were Conservative (far and away the most efficient machine; this evening they round up all the elderly and infirm who haven't voted and bus them along in bulk).

Reminded me of happy times 30 years ago when I stood myself (and got a mighty 2,350 votes).

Done. Voted Lib Dem too, though Ken Clarke is safe as houses here in Rushcliffe (Nottingham)

Lib Dem for me too. I am voting on behalf of my local candidate as the Conservative (whom I used to vote for) has had his hand in the coffers and is also bloated and unpleasant.

Even if you think your local MP is "safe as houses" its still worth voting David.

Those votes (nationally) all add-up and influence the overal voter intention.

Thank God you didn't win JK. You are a disgusting man.

You need to admit to what you have done and then go live your life out of view. No one believes your innocence. The fact you are still in public view is testament to the fact that you are an arrogant, self important man who cares little for the damage he has done to people's lives.

How dare you use you site to lecture other people on what they should do, when everyone knows what your past has consisted of - the cases for which you went to prison for and for promoting Six Chix in the 2000 song for europe. Disgraceful. GIven your support of this trash you can hardly talk about the quality of other people's music. Thank God your plan failed and talent won out in the end and Nicki French went to Stockholm.

What I have always admired about JK is the fact that he believes in freedom of speech - even to the point of financing a website where people like the above can criticise him !

Shows evenness of character.

Well, Conor you appear to take the Self Righteous Prig Of The Day award.
I've been coming here for quite a while and I have never {let me repeat that in case you didn't hear me... never} seen, heard or in any way experienced the owner lecture anyone. Indeed, the only people who do tend to lecture are the odd trolls like yourself who take upon themselves the role of Public Avenger. Some times we bluster here. Sometimes we argue, and sometimes we even accuse each other of things which, perhaps, we shouldn't. Yet there is one guiding principle which remains unspoken, remains unwritten and remains the consensual view. The principle of tolerance. I'm an ex con too, the recipient of a conviction I deserved and make no argument with. I've done my time {as has JK} and, like him, made the most of my time inside and came out a hopefully better person. Like JK I contribute as much as I take out. Unlike JK I hold my hands up and say "I was guilty". He maintains his innocence, as is his perfect right. While I was inside I met lots of people who claimed to be innocent. Some were obvious liars, some were clearly in denial. And quite a few of them were perfectly plausible. The law of averages says that some of those - if not all - were indeed the victims of miscarriages of justice. They certainly happen, as even an idiot like you must realise. In short, I learned enough to know that just because the papers say "guilty" that doesn't always make it so.
You make it clear that you're unsympathetic to JK's point of view. And for whatever reason you judge to be valid choose to troll here.

May I invite you, sir, in the politest possible terms, to Fuck Off?

I voted Lib Dem. I remember 1992...at 12am David Dimbleby announced the result was 'too close to call'. By 2am we had another tory government. I am predicting a hung parliament this time though.

Well I have voted TORY for the national election and Lib dem for the local. I do hope we get a strong Tory government.

Good to have you on the board Conor. I suggest you watch the VILE PERVERT download ( it is free ) and then get informed about what really happened to JK ( and many other victims of false allegations many of whom have been to prison before the truth was finally found - Sion Jenkins, The Jill Dando Fall Guy, the Yorkshire Fall guy ( spent a lifetime in prison ) and so on and so on - not to mention the allegations which ruined people's careers which were not true like Dave Jones the football manager and Michael Jackson who was obviously weird and innapropriate but never a criminal and so on )

As for the Eurovision comments - how you can seriously say that is beyond me. Eurovision is fluff and a laugh - not to be taken seriously. You need to lighten up and then I am sure it would be good to have you on here to provide some alternative points of view.

Once you have watched VILE PERVERT why not come on here and tell us whether you still hold the same views. I would like to think that you are a big enough person to listen to both sides before you come to such opinions.

COME YOU TORIES !!!!!

That has to be one of your best posts yet, Locked Out. Agree with every word and particularly like the punch line at the end!

I agree with not only Locked Out, but also In The Know and BR on this (crikey BR- I'm agreeing with you!)

Firstly, you need to get acquainted with JK's case a bit more thoroughly. I think BR's suggestion of watching Vile Pervert The Musical is a good start. It's a bit dodgy for the first 15 minutes (sorry JK!) but really gets going and makes some really eye-opening declarations about his case. I really didn't have much time for him before seeing the film, but it has opened my eyes even wider than they were before about the workings of the media and the judicial system.

I have no way of knowing whether he was innocent or not but am prepared to take him at his word. After all, no one has sued him over Vile Pervert (unless he's not telling).

Sometimes I wonder why I keep coming back here when we're all mad as a box of frogs and very different, but it is the freedom of expression on this message board which I find very refreshing. As Locked Out said, we have skirmishes on here, as we are a very diverse bunch of folks with often passionate views.

I think the character of a web forum reflects its owner, and I think that is true here. I kind of regard this site as the Monster Raving Loony Party of the web, but in a good way. It is also a bastion of free speech. As In The Know wrote, JK has published your comments about him publicly on this site, so don't knock him.

Find out more about the owner of this site and you may come to like him.

Perleese! Anyone who thought Nicki French's song was a good Eurovision entry (I think we came 16th) has to be a great judge of things!

I agree with david about the FREEDOM OF SPEECH on this site.

Unlike other well known music forums where many posters have been abusive - JK and the KoH mods allow free speech on here and allow people to argue their point.

This makes this site totally refreshing and in my opinion the best forum anywhere on the web in the world.

There is such a wide range of opinion on this forum and that is healthy. We all vote for different parties - all believe in differing things - and we often argue alot. But everyone on here does so with a smile and I agree JK is to be congratulated on creating such a safe haven for discussion.

This really is a safe place for people with a lack of judgement on here as well. I am a Christian and I believe only God judges us - therefore this site is probably the most Christian forum in the World as well because unlike most others ( and many so called Christian forums are the worst !!! ) there is no rush to judge posters and each comment is taken at its value.

Sometimes we all agree and sometimes we disagree.......that is life and we never resort to WAR like certain politicians in order to win our ideological viewpoint.

I do hope that Conor watches VILE PERVERT and has the guts to come back and discuss it with us - even if it does not change his mind - though I think it will have some effect.

I agreed with Conor at first, as I thought JK had been jailed for promoting Six Chix!! That really would have been fair but should have obviously been for life....

As someone who actually campaigned with JK when he got his excellent level of votes, I have to say that if grumpy Gordon had borrowed the multi coloured wig from JK, he might have got more votes.

Ok I'm curious now.
Who or what are/is Six Chix?

Or is it best not to ask?

It was an absolutely brilliant concept I put together to sing a superb Kimberley Rew song (he wrote Love Shine A Light and Walking On Sunshine) - six ladies ranging from teenager to granny; one for each decade.
