Yes thats true, and also he has managed the sides that have knocked out England in the last two tournaments. Brazil in 2002 and Portugal in 2004, and I think he's going to do it again in 2006.

I never thought any ref would make Graham Poll look good but the Russian Michael Palin lookalike did a fine job. 16 Yellows, 4 Reds but only 25 fouls!!! Great viewing but all for the wrong reasons, plus he missed quite a few that by his standards should have been carded and how lucky was Figo!!

If Figo had picked up his well-earned red card, I think the rest of the match would have been less agressive. The Dutch were rightly annoyed by what was the ref's misjudged attempt to cool things. Overall, a disgraceful display by players that should know better.
The other side of the coin is that England will be playing a seriously diminished Portuguese team.
