My son has Polydactyly on both his hands and his feet. His hands will be sorted eventually, the 'extra' digit will be removed easily because there is no bone, although these extra fingers do have rather cute nails. His feet are a problem because the Consultants can't say which toe is the extra one due to the complexity of the bones in the foot. On top of this, he only has one extra toe on one foot. This means we have to rely on the NHS to get shoes for him because of the extra size on one foot! He needs new shoes every 3-6 months at a cost of around - £200!

Apparently there was a Jonathan King of Islington who made quite a name for himself during the Victorian era as a high class maker of Valentine cards. The collection was put on exhibition in London Museum in 1937 by Jonathan's son, Mr A. Ashford King. I bet THAT Jonathan wore soft leather slippers and a smoking jacket and, quite possibly, pince-nez.

I've been quite quiet on here lately due to a busy period, but I couldn't miss the chance to comment on one of life's great frustrations- SLIPPERS.
All too often, I buy a cheap pair worth about £10. They feel great when I first buy them- soft and fluffy on the outside, warm and snug on the inside with deep, thick padding. My joy is usually short lived.
Within a few days (and I mean DAYS not WEEKS), the comfort of the inside has been worn down to little more than a piece of thin cardboard.
Within a month, they're nearly always falling apart. The process usually begins with a 'big toe' hole and it's downhill from there really.
Despite a lifetime (in my case, 26 years) of disappointment with slippers, I can't say I'm quite ready to part with £200 for a pair just yet.
