British Polanski accuser's 1999 News of the World interview re-emerges...what a difference 13 Years, 11 Months ago
This is a fortnight old but I hadn't come across it until now and it doesn't even seem to have been covered by the mainstream press!

However Lewis's version of events was called into question after the emergence of a 1999 interview she gave with the British tabloid News of the World, where she said she was Polanski's lover for several months. 'I knew Roman had done something wrong in America but I wasn't too sure what,' Lewis was quoted as saying in the interview 11 years ago. 'Anyway, I was fascinated by him, and I wanted to be his lover... He'd already cast me in his film Pirates, so it wasn't like it was a casting-couch thing where you have to sleep with someone to get the part. I wanted him probably more than he wanted me.'

And here's an excellent article by Bernard Henri-Levy where I learn't of it.

And finally, as for the latest episode, concerning an English actress who, pressed by a well-known Los Angeles attorney who counts among her scalps that of Tiger Woods, consider this Charlotte Lewis who recovered her memory after twenty-five years in order to lodge a last-minute claim for her fifteen minutes of fame or, perhaps, her thirty pieces of silver and who, in parenthesis, gave an entirely different version of the affair in an interview with News of the World ten years ago (not 16, but 17--"I wanted to be his mistress"--not to mention the nauseating part of her confession in which she describes the period previous to her encounter with the director of "Pirates", when, as a child of 14, she sold her charms to "older men" and admits she "doesn't know how many men she slept with for money at the time"). As for these alleged revelations, as for this so-called new affair, immediately repeated in a loop by the media worldwide, without a shadow of verification, all of it makes it abundantly clear that this is a matter not of law, but of a manhunt.

the most interesting aspect of the article is that it shows up again the fact that the media now investigate nothing but repeats ad finitum goobedly gook that emanates from one source, without questioning anything.

It reminds me yet again of the House of Horrors on Jersey that swept the world's front pages and all TV reports with even a BBC reporter gravely announcing to camera "today I stand on gound where dozens of children's bodies are buried"..in his case there wasn't even that coconut shell already discovered

cost to taxpayes ?.about 40 million pounds...and in credibilty of police..difficult to estimate...

but fabulous profits to tablods etc for printing absolute tosh!!

if they think the Apple Ipod is going to save their bacon they are in la la land.
