US Oil Spill .... I can't help sniggering ! 13 Years, 11 Months ago
Whilest I deeply regret the loss of wildlife and natural habitat, I can't help but snigger seeing the all-powerfur USA reduced to helplessness over this disaster.

They have done so much damage to the world, and now the damage is being done to them - and there's not a thing they can do about it.

LOL !

Lovely, isn't it ?

God has sent waves of oil to destroy their beaches, tornadoes have ripped through the mid-west, and the hurricane season is about to start !

LOL (loudly !)

PS - I'm a big believer in Karma, and it's quite clear that God does not like them isn't it?

Can you understand why ?

What you fail to understand is that we're dealing with a catastrophe caused by a British company (the clues in the name.) This will not only affect the other side of the pond. Must be lovely living in a bubble.

Yes I understand that very well ... I also know that it is merely called British, and that many of the shares (if not the majority) will be owned overseas (by Yankers / Bakers / Investment firms / Trust funds / pension funds etc etc etc?)

Lovely, isn't it .... seeing them squirm ?

It's a terrible situation, but I am getting a bit fed up with the US pointing fingers at the UK saying we should take full responsibility before the facts have been made clear. Yes, it is British Petroleum, but apart from the HQ being in the UK, that's more or less where the connection with the UK ends. Over half of the employees are American and there are a number of American firms involved with the management of that rig.
Whilst they are on their moral high horse, I wonder if the US Gov't remembers what happened with one of their firms in Bhopal 26 years ago?

Obama is a strange public speaker. Most leaders, if they're orators, don't have an 'on' and 'off' switch, they just talk like that. Obama, however, can be good when the speech is really 'big,' but most of the rest of the time he sounds like a busy man who has been persuaded by an ailing relation to stop and read out some postcards before leaving. He sounds tetchy, he tends to speak in short (almost telegram-style) sentences and he never varies his delivery. He was on today with yet another flat and tired-sounding speech about the leak and he really did fail to engage. He can't be fatigued yet, surely!

Could it be, Prunella, that despite being the most powerful man in the world he realizes that he is currently powerless?

Did you see the Washington hearing on this today? It was stunningly biased, over-emotional and prejudiced - the questioners were basically insulting the BP bloke from start to finish. How he didn't lose his temper is a mystery. Whatever the real rights and wrongs of the spill, this is no way for any supposedly responsible body to investigate the matter. It's outrageous.

I only caught a few seconds Pru but TOTALLY agree with you; I was shocked; it was rude and brutal and nasty. And VERY bad mannered. The older I get the more I value good manners.

Yep, the Yankers are clearly very very embarrassed that someone has them by the goolies and there's not a thing they can do about it (apart from huff and puff and try to convinvce their voters that they are doing something) LOL !

I don't belive in the BP oil spill.

It's all a conspiracy.

Oil spills come in natural cycles.

Sarcasm aside, I hope that if and when pacific islanders start drowning under rising sea levels, that the USA gets sued for thousands of billions of dollars for its massively disproportionate contribution to global warming and for originally refusing to sign the kyoto agreement.

Maybe. But the elected representatives of US citizens could not elicit a meaning reponse from Hayward who just refused to answer.

- I had no knowledge of that
- that was not referred to me
- I was unaware

Lives, businesses, wildlife and billions of dollars are in the melt here; if rudeness is the only by-product here, we shall all be very lucky.

It is a tragedy of monumental proportions but I have no doubt karma is a real thing and has had a hand in this.

As the USA slowly sinks as an economic giant, those they wished to subjugate are on the rise..Latin America, Russia , China. We may be far better off in the long run.

Interesting article - written in 2004; acutally Luanda still is more expensive than London, Tokyo or NYC

www.internationalreportingproject.org/st...africas-oil-tycoons/

Here´s another good story about oil
www.theoildrum.com/node/4196

Fact is that offshore drilling is extremely risky, yet today most oil companies plan drilling deeper and deeper. Nobody can control this and as long as corrupt politicians don´t care to regulate, we´re heading towards more major disasters.

... and here comes Hurricane Alex (the first of the season) LOL !

No need for suncream if your going to the Gulf this year - there's plenty of oil on the beaches already.
