King's Cross railway station has been evacuated over fears a nearby fire may spark an explosion.
About 20 firefighters are tackling the blaze in a building at a construction site near the north London terminal.

There is a 200m exclusion zone around the fire, which began at about 0830 BST, as there are fears a gas cylinder could explode.

About 630 people were led to safety and one person was taken to hospital suffering from burns.

East Coast main line operator GNER was forced to turn around trains at Peterborough, while First Capital Connect trains on the Thameslink line were turning round at Finsbury Park in north London. Hull Trains' services were also affected.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "King's Cross was evacuated at 11.05am and a 200-metre exclusion zone has been introduced around the fire scene as a precaution in case gas canisters go off.

"The fire is directly across the road from our King's Cross signal box."

The Tube service is unaffected.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said the fire had damaged about half of the eighth floor of the building.
