TOPIC: England v USA

England v USA 13 Years, 11 Months ago
Well its nearly started, I think that it will be a draw personally. England usually get off to a nervous start in big tournaments.

They are showing it on ITV and I hate that part where the players introduce themselves one by one. What is the point of this? Just list the players, we don't need to see individual video clips, it's not big brother for gods sake.

Personally speaking I fear there will be an upset and a USA win.
Hope I'm wrong.

I must say I find the constant droning wail of those fucking horns most distracting and annoying.

A rather sad result and a weak performance but what do I know?

1 - 1, a draw, just like I said. Poor old Rob Green, whose fumble has cost England 2 points, he joins a long list of young England Keepers to have made major bloopers in important matches. On the evidence of the matches so far, Argentina look the best.

USA aren't a bad side so I don't think it's such a bad result, or at least performance. Really, they created enough chances to have won by a few goals. We might get to the quater-final penalty shoot out yet.

I always suspected it'd be a draw. The Americans are a really well-organised, super-fit team, and they have some very good players (who beat Spain last year). Then again, England's worst problem is in their minds. For their clubs, in HUGE high pressure games, the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and others can look positively cocky and very imaginative. For England the same players look witless. Very odd. For the next game I'd put Joe Hart in goal, keep Crouch on with Rooney and bring on Joe Cole for Wright-Phillips.

Joe Hart was good on Question of Sport and is very cute! David James would not have fumbled like that. It's not over yet but not looking good.

JK, I fear that David 'Calamity' James could well have fumbled like that. He's done such things often enough in the past. A wonderfully agile keeper who just has these weird lapses in concentration - and what makes it worse is he copes with it by adopting what I guess he thinks is a 'rueful grin,' but just enrages supporters who want to smash his face in!

When the commentator said "make no mistake, England can go all the way" The game was up for England. You lot are so cocksure. Its always been your downall and the reason so many worldwide think the team are a bunch of arse holes.

I fear, Scooby, you're confusing the nation with one idiotic commentator. Seeing as most US 'soccer' commentators I've heard sound as though they don't even understand what sport it is they're covering, just feel thankful we don't make your mistake!

Watching in overrated HD, ITV had the bright idea of showing an advert for a Hyundai during England's only goal, the incompetant tits. Crap match anyway - the players do not justify their £100k a week. I can see England heading for an early bath this World Cup.
