Really enjoyed this game. Couldn't help feeling great for Zidane with that five-star goal. The French team was getting a really hard time at home for sending an OAP team, and the Spanish were crowing that they were the ones that would be sending Zidane packing (it's his last int'l tournament, which means every match could be his last one).
Do I hear the sound of hats been eaten? Not really, as it's not in the nature of the press. The daily Liberation had put "You don't change a losing team" as their front page headline the day before. Now they put "Vamos!", calling the match the best duel of the World Cup so far (probably true).
After being total bastuds, I suppose we can expect to see articles praising the old guard (Zidane, Barthes, Beckham) when England knock Portugal out.
