I'll not take offence at your posting, as there would be little point, and it shows itself for what it is anyway. Having close connections in the region, I do have a little understanding of the situation. I made my post short, because I was making a point well known to so many. Palestine are the clear aggressors, and they leave Israel with little option but to respond this way. Various peace proposals have been thrown back at Israel, with bombs attached. When Israel agreed to hand over more territory to the Palestinians, the Palestinians used this as another opportunity to launch yet more attacks on Israel. They have also elected an extreme militant movement to be their government.
Israel is not entirely without blame for the situation, but generally they have made every effort to try to live in peace with the Palestinians.
I would love to see peace in the region, but the ball is firmly in Palestinian hands. They do need to learn about compromise and put rather more effort into the peace process than they have thus far.

Julian Manyon could just as easily report from a house in Israel being fired at from the palestinian side or stand in a nightclub or restaurant while some suicide bomber decides to murder innocent Israelis.Hamas's "ceasefire" is a joke. Scores of home made Qassam rockets are fired into Israeli territory daily recently hitting a hospital and a school.
Hamas targets not only Israel but every Jew throughout the world.
Now let's look at history.
When the surrounding Arab countries ethnically cleansed themselves of their Jewish populations, Israel took them all in. The Palestinians are actually arabs thrown out of Jordan,Syria,Egypt and the Lebanon.
Now some "facts"
To listen to Israel's critics and the press, you'd think the issue at stake today is the Palestinians' quest for statehood and the Israelis' refusal to grant it.
Au contraire. At Camp David in July 2000 and in later discussions that year, Arafat was offered a Palestinian state that would include 97 percent of the West Bank, all of Gaza, 3 percent of what's now Israel, and a land-and-bridge connection between the West Bank and Gaza. On top of that, the Palestinians would get half of Jerusalem. Arafat turned the offer down without making a counteroffer. Instead, he responded with a new intifada that quickly changed from rock-throwing to terrorism to suicide bombers who target innocent civilians in Israel. If Arafat wanted a Palestinian state, all he had to do was say yes--and stop terrorist attacks on Israel.
The moderate Arab countries are supposedly brimming with compassion for the Palestinians. And this is taken at face value by much of the press and the world. Yet Arab leaders like Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia have done nothing for the Palestinian people--ever. Palestinians were expelled from Jordan in the 1970s and from Kuwait in the 1990s. In Lebanon, the government refuses to integrate Palestinians into the country on the grounds that it would disturb the ethnic balance. So Palestinians live in refugee camps there, and elsewhere. Arafat himself was thrown out of Jordan and Lebanon for establishing a terrorist infrastructure and threatening to take over the country. Return to 2000 for a moment. Did any of these Arabs press Arafat to accept the peace offer and statehood? Not a one. Did they urge him to stop terrorism? Not publicly and probably not privately either. Have they done anything to improve living conditions in the West Bank or Gaza? Nope. In short, the Arabs do not come with clean hands.
When you see the photographs of Palestinian leaders holding up keys questioning the stolen homes of their people, how about the 3 million Jews from surrounding Arab countries that were kicked out without any time to take their belongings? I want to see the keys to those people's homes.
Anyone who thinks Hamas will ever accept a state of Israel and its right to exist are seriously deluded. Their intentions are clear and backed by Iran in that they wish to see Israel taken off the map
