TOPIC: Israelis at it again !

Israelis at it again ! 17 Years, 10 Months ago
They've bombed the main (only) route linking North and South Gaza - which means than in the event of casualties no ambulances can reach the region.

Is this Jenin all over again?

The Palestinians should behave themselves. 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Then maybe their people can live in peace.

I should imagine they probably have ambulances in both north and south anyway. Most country's do.

Not according to the lunchtime news broadcasts.

Perhaps it is the Israelis who should behave themselves (after all they have been condemned by the United Nations more often than every other country in the World).

What an incredibly bland and ill informed comment to make??? Do you have nothing else to do rather than respond to posts that you show a childlike understanding of?

Its a factual comment - one clearly over your head.

I will not rise to your rather pathetic attempts to "goad" me.

Syria to get involved ? 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Israeli warplanes flew over the home of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as Israeli forces conducted operations in Gaza to save a kidnapped soldier.

Syria says it chased Israeli warplanes out of its airspace after what it called a "hostile and provocative act," Syrian state television reported

I'll not take offence at your posting, as there would be little point, and it shows itself for what it is anyway. Having close connections in the region, I do have a little understanding of the situation. I made my post short, because I was making a point well known to so many. Palestine are the clear aggressors, and they leave Israel with little option but to respond this way. Various peace proposals have been thrown back at Israel, with bombs attached. When Israel agreed to hand over more territory to the Palestinians, the Palestinians used this as another opportunity to launch yet more attacks on Israel. They have also elected an extreme militant movement to be their government.

Israel is not entirely without blame for the situation, but generally they have made every effort to try to live in peace with the Palestinians.

I would love to see peace in the region, but the ball is firmly in Palestinian hands. They do need to learn about compromise and put rather more effort into the peace process than they have thus far.

I really don't want this to turn into a debate... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
I think there are better informed forums for that.
It's a complex situation - as was (is) Northern Ireland.
If I actually had genuine informed opinion to offer I would contribute more.

Here you are, a one way plane ticket to Tehran. Once there, you'll find many people who agree with you (the rest will be too terrified to disagree). Then perhaps you won't be so frustrated having to be in such a tiny minority with your anti-semetic rants.

There are plenty who agree with me ! 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Like the UN for one body - strange isn't it, how UN resolutions MUST be obeyed by some nations but not by others?

why is he anti semetic just because he has sympathy for the palestinian cause. There is just as much anti palestinian comment being bounded about here.

It's not anti semetic to criticise israel, its not about race - its about right and wrong.

You know I'm no friend of ITK, but it's not anti-semitic to question Israeli handling of this situation. A soldier is kidnapped, so they destroy a power plant and the main road linking the territory. I fail to see the connection between a paramilitary attack with one likely casualty and a civilian population in the dark. Thank God Britain never bombed Dublin when RUC men went missing.

Now I'm going to try and keep out the debate, promise!

but it's not anti-semitic to question Israeli handling of this situation

This is the "barrier" that they've hidden behind for decades .... seizing land and killing thousands of innocent people - all "safe" in the knowledge that they "cannot" be criticized.

If you saw the ITV lunch time news today (Julian Manyon) you would have seen him reporting from inside a house in Gaza which had shells falling within feet of the house.

He described it as [quote] terrorising the population [unquote].

The Israelis will not be happy until they have killed all the Palestinians and then they can seize ALL of the land.

Some of the comments by Israelis (on TV News etc) show just how little they value (others) lives.

on the subject of Israel 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Julian Manyon could just as easily report from a house in Israel being fired at from the palestinian side or stand in a nightclub or restaurant while some suicide bomber decides to murder innocent Israelis.Hamas's "ceasefire" is a joke. Scores of home made Qassam rockets are fired into Israeli territory daily recently hitting a hospital and a school.

Hamas targets not only Israel but every Jew throughout the world.

Now let's look at history.

When the surrounding Arab countries ethnically cleansed themselves of their Jewish populations, Israel took them all in. The Palestinians are actually arabs thrown out of Jordan,Syria,Egypt and the Lebanon.

Now some "facts"

To listen to Israel's critics and the press, you'd think the issue at stake today is the Palestinians' quest for statehood and the Israelis' refusal to grant it.
Au contraire. At Camp David in July 2000 and in later discussions that year, Arafat was offered a Palestinian state that would include 97 percent of the West Bank, all of Gaza, 3 percent of what's now Israel, and a land-and-bridge connection between the West Bank and Gaza. On top of that, the Palestinians would get half of Jerusalem. Arafat turned the offer down without making a counteroffer. Instead, he responded with a new intifada that quickly changed from rock-throwing to terrorism to suicide bombers who target innocent civilians in Israel. If Arafat wanted a Palestinian state, all he had to do was say yes--and stop terrorist attacks on Israel.

The moderate Arab countries are supposedly brimming with compassion for the Palestinians. And this is taken at face value by much of the press and the world. Yet Arab leaders like Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia have done nothing for the Palestinian people--ever. Palestinians were expelled from Jordan in the 1970s and from Kuwait in the 1990s. In Lebanon, the government refuses to integrate Palestinians into the country on the grounds that it would disturb the ethnic balance. So Palestinians live in refugee camps there, and elsewhere. Arafat himself was thrown out of Jordan and Lebanon for establishing a terrorist infrastructure and threatening to take over the country. Return to 2000 for a moment. Did any of these Arabs press Arafat to accept the peace offer and statehood? Not a one. Did they urge him to stop terrorism? Not publicly and probably not privately either. Have they done anything to improve living conditions in the West Bank or Gaza? Nope. In short, the Arabs do not come with clean hands.

When you see the photographs of Palestinian leaders holding up keys questioning the stolen homes of their people, how about the 3 million Jews from surrounding Arab countries that were kicked out without any time to take their belongings? I want to see the keys to those people's homes.

Anyone who thinks Hamas will ever accept a state of Israel and its right to exist are seriously deluded. Their intentions are clear and backed by Iran in that they wish to see Israel taken off the map

Here are some other facts ...... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
1182 - Jews expelled from France.

1290 - Jews expelled from England.

1492 - Jews expelled from Spain.

1496 - Jews expelled from Portugal.

.... shall I go on?

You make out that this is purely a Palestinian / Jewish conflict (and doctor the "facts" to suit) but the truth is that the Jews have caused trouble everywhere they have ever been !

1930s - Jews kicked out of their homes by Germany, put into ghettos, sent to concentration camps and exterminated. Was this because the Jews caused too much trouble?

1496 was a long time ago. I think the British, French and Spanish Imperialists caused a lot of trouble since then. So did the Germans last century. We can't live on history. The world moves on. It's better to look at the situation in Israel today.

The video was recently released to show Palestinians allegedly killed on a beach by Israeli shells. I make no judgement on this, because I have no personal knowledge of the event, but I must ask some questions.
1. Why was the beach undisturbed, with no shell craters or other devastation?
2. Why did the young girl run on cue from the side of the camera towards the scene. How was the camera there before her? Would she not have already been there with her family before the camera arrived? And why did she keep looking up to see if the camera was still on her?
3. Why were the injured in the hospital wrapped in clean bandages without any sign of blood or bruises?
4. Wasn't this piece of film fairly similar to those released by Iraq when they used to claim that allied planes had targeted children?

I've seen the video several times and I just find the above points interesting. Of course, there might be a reasonable explanation.

It's probably an Al jazeera daytime soap opera. Interspersed with beheadings of foreign peace campaigners no doubt
