Judge "resigns" over male prostitute 13 Years, 10 Months ago
A senior circuit judge has resigned after claims about his private life.

Judge Gerald Price QC was suspended last year following allegations in a newspaper about the judge and a male prostitute.

ITK wonders whether it is only male prostitutes that bring the Judiciary into disrepute - or whether female ones do so too ?

sounds ominous. Terrible a man should lose his career over that.

And I have 2 friend who sit at the bar. This case would be by no mean unusual.

Over what though? It does not say what he did, only "The investigation found that his actions brought the judiciary into disrepute, rendering his position untenable."
I would like to know what he actually did to merit removal from office, which prompted his pre-emptive resignation

well one is a circuit judge who I meet regularly in a holiday spot and he does use the services of locals for Ugandan discussions but it's not in a country where they are obsessed with the 'compensation' angle.

The other is a magistrate who is very kind and never takes the prosecution advice of jailing a person if he feels they can be rehabilitated...police get very annoyed with him.

I can see how the judges position would become untenable and he would appear to be a hypocrite to sit in judgement over persons accused of victimless sex crimes such as soliciting, in that the rentboy he used probably solicited the judges 'business'. The man is clearly not a virtuous person and therefore as such should lose his right to judge others. I don't want politicians that are liars in office even though it is not illegal to lie, neither do I want immoral judges in office even though it is not illegal to be immoral.

But, BB, the question I am asking is .... would it have been the same result if the prostitute had been female ?

I personally cannot see why not but what prompts your question? Is there a similar case where a judge kept his job and the prostitute was female?

If they want to get into the forgiveness business they can always become priests. Winking at wrongdoing is one thing, rendering sound judgement tempered with mercy where appropriate is another. I favour the latter.
