The Time Has Come, The Walrus Said... 13 Years, 9 Months ago
Not really. The Walrus had "many things" to discuss. I don't. Not here, not any more.
Burning bridges has always been my style, but I can't even raise the enthusiasm to do that properly, so I'll say simply this;
This board was once a great window on the world for me. A terrific place where one could be honest and be open with everyone. One could discuss and debate intelligently and engage no matter who - or what - you were. It has become a parody of its former self. Where are the posters I remember? The Pete Clarkes, the Denises? People who had something to say beyond constantly raving about the New World Order or reducing the board language to the level of "slapper", "murdering whore" or "slut"?
I hope that one day things may improve, and this board will once again become a place of lively debate without the dominance of the familiar thread starters we see today. Those disaffected "outlaws" who constantly witter about hope but offer none personally. On that day I may walk back over that bridge I sensibly didn't burn. But until then I must say Goodbye. And I know I'm not the only one who has lost faith in whatever it was we used to know and love here and will no longer be posting. It's a pity, but I - we - have simply had enough.

Censorship is something we avoid, LO, unless it is malicious or libellous or nasty about individuals; we don't agree with many opinions but we usually allow them freedom of expression, whilst encouraging self discipline.
People come and go; posters contribute or stay silent; we appreciate all points of view.

It would be a great loss if Locked Out left but must admit I can't blame him and I am considering doing the same.

The majority of posts now appear on the Your Views and too many are anti police/establishment rants from BR. Check out the last 50 threads and see how many have either been started or has the last comment from BR. On the Tipsheet board JK valiantly tries to keep it alive with miscellaneous reminiscences and associated questions. Rarely is there anything about the any of the current record companies, their executives or the business of music. I can't remember the last time anyone raved/commented about a concert they saw. Does no one here like live music or go to a show?

I appreciate that JK doesn't want to censor but these message boards will become more and more anti police/establishment forums unless something is done about it.

At the minute I think I only come here out of habit but that's a habit that is becoming less and less pleasant.

I am only commenting on Today's news - which is what your views are meant to be about. The agenda to a certain extent is set by the media. I dont think you can blame people for commenting on Mr Moat or Ian Tomlinson over the last 2 weeks - the posts you are referring to.

If you want a post about a concert or something else then I would welcome you posting that. You have as much freedom as any other poster on this forum to post about whatever you want - use that freedom and post.

To try and censor other posters because you dont like what they post - for whatever reason is the wrong way to go about things. Leaving in a flounce is also not the way to engage in debate.

Ignore my posts and post your own threads. That is your right and your choice. If you disagree then disagree.

I will now from this moment not post anything about THE POLICE etc for the next month. This gives you LO etc time to recover from this glut of media led stories on the Police Violence. Just watch the video I have posted today which I think gives the final word ( a link to You Tube ) in another thread and that is my final word on the issue.

I will use the next month to post about music. Which as you all know is a much happier topic than the violence that has been perpetrated on people recently by the state. I can understand that the whole subject of violence is one that people understandably want to not know about it because it is upsetting. I find it so.

Being new to this board (and liking it), I am unfamiliar with its history and posters
As an old poster yourself, what would you say is the solution or what ideas would you implement?

I agree with some opinions expressed on this board and disagree with others. If I think I have nothing to add to a thread or discussion, I leave it alone. I too wish more posters would enthuse on the Tipsheet board about music but I find, like the other music boards, it tends to reflect the lack of excitement in the music industry at present, as that industry seems to have gotten rid of the older types and nurtured few new voices, mainly because the majors are dying and the fresh executives are busy trying to establish their own companies - quite right too. Why talk about it when you can be doing it?

The era of intelligent Velvet Rope posts seems to have passed. The Record of the Day appears limited in visitors of quality. Music Week means virtually nothing - it always based itself on retailers, of which there are now very few. Radio and TV have deserted music for other things like auditions.

Our online community caters for specialist tastes rather than general interest. And the younger online people appear to have very short attention spans and very little depth of feeling or appreciation.

The world is changing, as the Walrus may well have said to the Carpenter, just before eating his audience - the oysters.

Bruce Bruce says - "As an old poster yourself, what would you say is the solution or what ideas would you implement?"

Firstly I am not an old poster, I only started to post in the last six months. I am an old lurker having been a visitor of the board for several years. I only started posting as I thought I should do something to steer the direction of the message board closer to something I wanted but I am a very busy person so I can't afford to spend too much time writing posts.

Ultimately a board like this will represent the views of its audience as directed by the moderator. Just because I don't like the direction the board is taking doesn't mean that the board is worse than it was. Often something starts with one goal/objective but ends up serving a completely different purpose, sometimes very successfully (Facebook started as a way some Harvard students could keep in touch)

If this board is to change it will be up to JK, not by censoring but by his postings and comments. As I've said change doesn't have to be bad, there certainly is place for a forum which points out injustices and wrong doing by people in authority. Unfortunately having BR as the most frequent poster and his hard line views and devotion to David Icke most people will not inclined to be part of the community as they will consider it dominated by loonies.

I've stayed because I like music but looking at the Tipsheet section of the board I do wonder why. Let me illustrate : Five days ago I wrote a reply to the boy band thread and since then I have posted a further two other times. In that same period there were a total of only 13 posts, 3 by me, 7 by JK and 3 by others. This is not a sign of a healthy music based message board and not a place i think it is worth me spending time trying to support.

It boils down to tolerance, and unfortunately LO while you are happy to receive it,you seem less than happy to give it.

As you specified on an earlier post you do feel grateful to be accepted here, after your admitted ghastly crimes against a child. Not a soul has reprimanded you for them,or in any way tried to limit your input here.
BR does have an annoying habit of posting some complete waffle.Yes it does get on the nerves of many here at times, but in the spirit of tolerance we just get on with it.Occasionally somebody like yourself seems to take it too seriously, then before you know it you're even having a dig at him with your signature comment.

I do happen to believe a limit of one top level post a day could help to reduce this problem, but as I'm not the boss I'll happily go along with anything JK deems correct.

I'm not going to grumble about the posts on here if I'm not prepared to participate with more top levelers of my own.The way to change content is by posting quality yourself, not belittling the work of others.

As far as I'm concerned the door should always be left open, for people to go in,or out,but it's always open for you to come back, even if under a new name.

Re:The Time Has Come, The Walrus Said... 13 Years, 9 Months ago
So I am devoted to David Icke and am a looney ?

That is quite a statement.

I enjoy reading David Icke and agree with much of what he says. In fact what he predicted in the 1990s has happened. He is more real and more sensible and normal than any politician - think Gordon " saved the world " Brown and Tony "weapons of mass destruction" Blair - both of them making statements which have been proved to be nothing more than lies.

As for being a looney.....well if being a looney means telling the truth and researching your comments so that they are based in fact - then I am.

It seems to me that in UK Society now we have Amateur Professionals who can pontificate without proof all the time on any subject - yet when they are faced with facts they get scared and immediately resort to name calling etc.

I need to tell you all that I only post around 10% of what I know and can prove on here because quite simply some of you find even that 10% hard to believe.

Why do you think 90,000 documents have been released today ? proving the media story and spin about Afganistan is just that - a spinners story. The reality is HIDDEN from you ( and me ) by these all powerful states.

The Official Secrets Act and the media censorship which now takes place means that the TRUTH about most things is not known by the general public.

There are many people who shout down others who wish to bring to others attention the truth about what is going on - and yes like Veritas I have signed the Official Secrets Act ( funny that - two of the main posters on here both potentially arrestable - note how they make sure that the intelligentsia have signed a contract with them at an early point in their careers.......)

In 20 years time if things dont change I expect you will look back on this forum and JK as an oasis of real news and opinion.

None of you who dismiss my views are loonies. I respect you and your opinions. I just wish you would do your OWN research into such things and then come back with a more informed view of what is actually going on.

What about his assertions that there are twelve foot tall, blood-drinking, shape-shifting reptilian humanoids from the Alpha Draconis star system, now hiding in underground bases in Hollow Earth, and are the force behind a worldwide conspiracy directed at humanity?

Tell me in what book ?

In THE BIGGEST SECRET he mentions reptillian control of the World. He does not say we have 12 foot etc etc walking around.

I have no idea what is under the Earth's crust - in fact neither do BP or any scientists. Gravity is a mystery to scientists because it does not follow scientific laws.

Einstein to Hawkings believe in QUANTUM THEORY of mechanics and relativity - yet this is only a THEORY - yet to be proved ( hence the HADRON COLLIDER ) yet no one calls them LOONIES....and what they are suggesting is much crazier than ICKE because if they are right then we could be living in parallel worlds and multiverses and time travel could be possible.

Therefore, I am keeping an open mind on ICKE's reptillian control theory - though looking at the deaths today of a family - and Bird - and Moat - and 9.11 I feel that there are some DARK FORCES who are in control of our World. Not least the economy and the Police State.

ICKE has been right about the Surveillance State - was right about ID cards and databases and was right about the 9.11 attacks and Iraq War. He is 100% right about the ELITE and their PAEDOPHILE RINGS which lead right to the heart of Government in the UK and USA and ITALY and FRANCE and so on.
Power corrupts in many ways.

ICKE is one of the most original thinkers in our society - his new "looney" theory is about MOON BASES......and you need to read his new book to understand that one ( I have not yet )

Remember he is also continuously changing his theories by testing them out - like a real scientist or philospher would.

The idea that to reach any truth it is on the plate in black and white and is provable is very simplistic.

As a Christian I find that trusting in God for the big questions is the best way - loving others and creation and music - and then reading about the original thoughts of others - some of which may be right or wrong : only time will tell.

I dont follow anyone : I believe in the Holy Spirit which is inside everyone who asks for this gift. That is real power - to do things for God.

Now if that is being "looney" then the Billions of Christians who say the creed every week in their Church are loonies as well......can we all be totally wrong ?

Or we are ALL loonies in our own way as we try and make sense of a World which in many ways is fantastic but has loads of flaws.
