TOPIC: Police accountability

Police accountability 13 Years, 9 Months ago
On the surface this coalition idea seems a good one; Chief Commissioners accountable to the public but sadly I suspect it will mean that handsome, superficial, brain dead people supported by tabloid headlines will be elected instead of genuinely good officers; "Let's trust the people" says Teresa May. Bad idea.

Yes - a missed opportunity, esp the fact that candidates can stand on a "party" ticket - will just lead to situations like where B-Liar (that's Sir Ian B-Liar, not Toady B-Liar) was seen as just a puppet of Noo LieBour.

We need Independent candidates - not those who follow the party machine.

Thanks JK,

You appear to argue that it's a bad idea to trust the people because they are insufficiently discriminating to distinguish between those candidates who really are good and those who merely appear good.

Are you, then, against democracy in general?

Best Wishes,
Jim
