TOPIC: Insanity or wisdom?
#60834
Insanity or wisdom? 13 Years, 9 Months ago
I had a long and meaningful conversation with a dragon fly on holiday.
In Morocco and my favourite hotel, I swim for several hours every morning, noon and evening.
In the mornings there are usually no other bathers, as some of you have noticed in my photos. I reached the shallow end after completing 18 lengths and there, one inch from my nose, was the most gorgeous scarlet dragon fly (are there such things? It looked like a dragon fly but it was red/orange).
"You're beautiful" I said, aloud.
The insect looked at me. I could clearly see its eyes and they were taking me in as it sunned itself, hovering slightly above the ground.
"How would you know?" it replied. "I've seen some of your species around here; fat, covered in moles and warts, wrinkled, saggy. Very little beauty".
"Well, leaving my species out of it, you are fabulous", I said. "Fantastic colour, sleek and toned; utterly magnificent".
"I can fly too", it said, "and have had quite enough of this absurd conversation" and it flew gracefully away, skimming above the water. In fact it followed me for several lengths, goading me mentally, until it got bored.
But it was quite splendid. Any suggestions as to what it was?
