Watching the Charles Taylor trial 13 Years, 9 Months ago
certain common things come through...

Court proceedings are all similar...
Media are fascinated by celebrities (would this be being filmed if Mia and Naomi were not marginally involved?).
Lawyers and Judges could bore for the Olympics (it's an intentional method of suffocating justice although probably originally intended to be specifically correct and polite and accurate).

We have never seen similar coverage of that appalling Rwanda genocide.

No stars.

Aren't we superficial, us humans?

Quite interesting that Mia Farrow has now put a cat among the pigeons. I'm sure Campbell's alleged lie will end up being papered over.

Putting the ghastly Taylor himself aside for a second, Mia Farrow ought to be a lesson to all celebs who think glancing at a paper every day is enough to speak with authority on international political matters. I always thought she was away with the fairies, but my god she's stupid. It took her about five minutes to work out that if her son was born in 1970 he'd have been 27 in 1997. And now Taylor's creepy lawyer is gleefully using her rambling 'blog' to make endless cheap points. 'I'm not qualified to say' she said at one point - if only she and other bubble-headed celebs settled for that remark more often!

The Carole White testimony this afternoon was absorbingly bizarre - in part because she was so ludicrously evasive and in part because the barrister seemed to think he was dealing with Doctor Evil! She was farcically inept but he seemed to be auditioning for a US legal drama.

Finally someone agrees with me about Mia Farrow !

Remember when she went ape-shit about Woody Allen having the affair with his (legally aged) adopted daughter (or was she just a ward ?)

She also accused him of abusing his little son which sounded so improbable.

Frank Sinatra reckoned she was nuts.

I quite agree. Didn't she get caught out coaching the children, too, in the Woody Allen case?

The 3 airheaded witnesses seem to have muddied the waters a bit - probably doing more harm than good. Who can recall what was said at an event 13 years after a night guzzling champagne and (possibly) a few lines of Colombia's finest.
I do find it hard to believe that, if Charles Taylor had given away diamonds to impress a supermodel, why the inconvenient rough variety? The last thing you want to do is smuggle them out and pay a considerable amount to a dodgy polisher to make them sparkle.

The news channels look really fed up this morning because they can't just cut to the court and go off for a cuppa. It's cheap TV.
