I love going to Bondi Beach for walks and there are always a handful of paparazzo around. Often council partol officers or lifeguards don't even now the law.

Beaches in Oz are open and free and owned by the Commonwealth and only administered by local councils who often attempt to introduce new laws which get booted out on appeal.

2 people have been arrested by police for taking snaps on their mobile phones (one British tourist..topless ladies everywhere)-their cases were thrown out of court by magistrates who made scathing comments about prosecutors for bringing the cases.

The tabloids ramble on about the 'nippers'..kids in surf carnival contests and with the result angry fathers attack other parents taking snaps of their own kids.

But this is really backfiring on the tabloids themselves especially with the Murdoch media at the forefront promoting pedo fear like crazy. Now their own snappers are increasingly stopped and questioned by police (who have no power to do so).

One photographer friend of mine who works for the Murdoch media told me how he was almost attacked and abused by a group of parents for taking pictures from across a swimming hole.. of his own kids.
