Due to Murdoch, I can't post a link but here's my message to Bryan...

As someone who is generally against all organised religion (but also feels there are many benefits - essentially it's morality for morons, not always a bad thing) I'm fascinated by the fact that nobody, ever, doubts the integrity of the "abused". Of course, being a victim of false accusers, I'm biased but also have first hand experience of just how devious and self deluded they can be. One of my songs, Satan's Ultimate Weapon of Mass Destruction, examines just how potent a tool this could be if the devil wanted to destroy humanity. Priests, vicars, teachers, doctors, foster parents, social workers - it attacks all the professions which, if we wanted to be objective, might be assumed to be areas of good and decency. But nobody is allowed to take such a suggestion seriously (as, of course, would be the effect if it was accurate and successful). Nobody in media dares write that greed, self delusion, revenge, resentment, desire for attention - might be motives for lying or even simply a little exaggeration. It is perfectly possible that all those claiming to be abused may be speaking the truth. It is not, in mediaworld, possible that they are not. Strange.

All the best

Jonathan

true...the accuser is never doubted.

and the victim is the victim and never an 'alleged' victim

Isn't Chiristopher Hitchens going to arrest The Pope when he arrives?

The reason for this is simple. It makes the job of the state easy. If they have any dissent or a difficult situation then they use "Sex Allegations" against a person. The WIKILEAKS example is classic.

It is therefore necessary for the media to always say the "victim" and that anyone accused of abuse is automatically guilty. The Police love this because they dont even need to find any evidence. Just an accusation is enough to go to court and often to convict. Evidence is not essential. Just some proof that the victim knew the person accused as some time ( preferably at least 10 years ago because it becomes impossible then to mount any defence except the "I did not do it and hardly knew this person" which cant be proved because it was too long ago.

I dont believe around 75% of the Catholic stories. In addition due to the Catholic church priests believing that even sinful thoughts make them guilty - any repressed feelings would mean a Priest would plead guilty even if they had never done anything. Note that there are very few Cathlolic priest found in possession of child porn for instance - which surely means that the problem is not quite how the media represents it. In addition out of Millions of clergy worldwide I believe the percentage of Catholic priests getting arrested is smaller than in many other professions .
