The public now must know that "our police" are basically "Thugs in Uniform" - most of these incidents are covered up. It is time that the bully boy attitude which has dominated our Police force since 2001 is purged.

Any policeman who has an allegation of assault against them should automatically be suspended ( After all this is what happens to any teacher who has just an allegation against them of any type of assault ) and maybe then we would see better treatment of ordinary members of the public.

Did you see the rport (Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, I believe) who said that there had been far too much press coverage of the final hours of Roual Moat's life ?

The police would rather keep the media "at bay" and control what happens (and what people subsequently get told?) themselves.
