Maggie Thatcher aged 84 13 Years, 7 Months ago  
Looks marvellous on the front page of today's Times.
She is described as frail and is rumoured to be suffering mentally but there's no sign of it in this picture.
She looks bright and alert and about 60.

I'm a huge fan of the lady though I disagreed with 90% of her policies - especially social ones (I agreed with her economic policies).

I've never met anyone more charismatic.

She certainly didn't understand Adam Smith, even though she cited him as an influence throughout her years as PM. Most politicians completely misunderstand Smith - probably because the twits haven't really ever read him - but they never get questioned on it. If Smith had witnessed Thatcherism he would have thrown up.

When she finally pops her clogs we are having a party. Totally inapropriate yes, but it was aranged in the eighties and it still stands.

I suppose that's the difference after meeting someone - they become human beings and nobody celebrates the death of a person.

I wonder what she actually DOES every day. Sit watching the Parliament Channel? Visit Kenneth Baker for afternoon tea? Sleep all day?

true..only met her briefly and I was amazed at how charismatic and softer she was in real life.

But I cannot forget the Falklands War and the controversy over the Belgrano..hundreds of young Argentinian sailors sent to death. She's lucky-she will die in bed surrounded by loved ones.

..or her industrial policies which decimated so much of Britain.

I like to think one of BR's reptiles got inside her !
