Strangely unexciting election - possibly because the result was on a Saturday and feels anti climactic. Who cares? A lethargy of despair lies over society today. Nobody makes any difference. The inevitability of the death of the species seems to loom in the distance.
Yeah. Another popped out of a pod politician with no character. He could be a Cameron or a Clegg. In fact put the three of them together you would be hard pushed to tell them apart.
That's a bit harsh, Giles. He has a fairly distinctive personality (and a sense of humour). I very much doubt he'll prove to be an effective leader, but he's certainly much more interesting as a person than his dire brother.
He might turn out to be similar - in performance - to William Hague with the Tories. Both have fairly traditional values for their grass roots supporters, but neither convinced enough of the movers and shakers within Parliament. Ed, like Hague, has a big positive in his natural self-deprecating sense of humour, so, like Hague, I think he'll have a good future after what could prove to be a difficult time as leader.
