I remembered the scandal over the Police who "waterboarded" suspects at Edmonton Police Station in North London and wondered why it had not gone to court.

Well "Not enough evidence" was the final decision and not one charge after spending £5 million of public money.

Seems these Police have once again got away with it - and the outcome was that loads of genuine criminals were released back onto the streets of North London.

The waste by our Police forces is massive and goes on day after day without any media outlet really picking up on it. Yet the Police Spin Doctors are out in force bleating on a daily basis about "No resources" and protecting their jobs etc.

We could cut the Police budget by 50% and the public would not notice a thing.

You forget, BR, that the police invesigating themselves are supposed to come up with no evidence ! That's the whole point.

The sooner we get rid of police authorities and substitute an independent, elected police commissioner (who will be answerable to the public - not to one of his mates down the golf club) the better !
