Insane. Opening ceremonies are always naff, and OUR opening ceremonies are always comically naff. Still, if there are some people mad enough to pay a fortune just to be there, and there probably are, more fool them.

a waste of money, a racket, wretched traffic jams..you won't get tickets for the things you really want to see like synchronised swimming...you have to take what you get.

Not even any good parties as everything stops for the bloody games and you will paying for them for decades to come.

To put things into perspective .... all the fuss about last week's Child Benefit cuts (which will only raise 1 Billion) and here we are chucking away 20 times that amount (and more by the time all the bills are in?)
