This story does not ring true.

A 23 year old man jailed for 10 years for having sex with FIVE yes FIVE 13 - 15 year olds - though he has a girlfriend age 18.....

The telling phrase is that the POLICE had to "WORK" with the first victim to get her to make an allegation ( doesn't that mean they had to persuade her of a story ? or did they offer compensation )

If you do the maths then you get a man sleeping with a 15 year old in 2007 when he was 20 years old....not only that his girlfriend is only 18 years old......

Seems to me the FIVE who made allegations were jealous of the girlfriend and had been ex girlfriends of this man - and were persuaded by the Police to make allegations.

How can a 20 year old be jailed for 10 years for having consensual sex with his 15 year old girlfriend ( he claims they were 16 ) ?

Totally stupid and I would not be suprised to see an appeal.

This should be a case that LIBERTY investigate because a young man of 23 should not be facing 10 years in jail because of having girlfriends within a few years of his age. That is wrong.

According to the statistics 60% of under 16 year old girls have sex with someone - and most of the boys are OVER 16. If we dont change the law to match the continent then this law will ruin loads of peoples' lives if the Police carry on like this.

I would like to see max sentence of any consensual under age sex as 2 years for someone under 25 and 4 years under 35 and 6 years under 45 and then 10 years over 45 and life for anyone over 50 years. This would mean that the worse the offence the worse the sentence - surely that would be fair instead of making a 23 year old get a ridiculous sentence for consensual sex when he is near the age of his girlfriends.

Every person who is under age should be jailed for 10 years if they decide to have sex if the courts are going to treat everyone under this law the same. Surely it is illegal for a person to have sex under age ? They are surely breaking the law.

Once again (ad bloody nauseam) we see a case based on accusations and no supporting evidence. Surely the allegations are rebutted by a denial? In the absence of any other information, we just have a "he did this... oh no I didn't" pantomine-style case. If such weight is to be given to the complainants, why isn't the same treatment given to the defendant's account?

The equivalent case were it about speeding - the traffic copper would assert most strenuously that the car was doing a certain speed and the driver would deny it. Absurd eh? But that's exactly how terrorism and sexual abuse cases proceed.

There are numerous cases where young men lure young girls, first as "girlfriends" and then turn them to prostitution.

The suggestions that he did something evil by showering them with compliments...has the judge or prosecutor looked at adverts aimed at young teens today ?

I watched TV adverts this morning aimed at under 12 year old girls for Barbie Dolls..in bikinis..and short skirts.

Aren't they being groomed by a doll maker to think about sexy outfits..and sex ?...and boys ?
