Italian comfort food for me - homemade Gnocchi in Brodo.
Potato pasta with lamb meatballs in a broth made from chicken stock, lamb stock, herbs, spices, honey, vinegar, mushrooms - simmered for some time - hot and nourishing for a winter night.

Yes the cold weather led us to the Lamb Shanks in mint gravy - couscous - sprouts meal at the weekend. With a nice 2007 vintage red.

Looks like the cold weather will get colder and we will all be on comfort food by the middle of the week !

Funnily enough in prison those glossy magazine features on food spread became exactly that - FOOD PORN - as we ate the adequate but not exciting grub.

I was lucky enough to be in Maidstone which had a self cook area (left over from the Kray days when it used to be a Cat A jail - the heaviest and tightest jails have facilities like that because lifers have nothing to lose if they decide to rebel).

I used to cook sensational meals - so much so that fellow inmates and officers used to follow me back to my cell and watch me eat - openly drooling - until I politely asked them not to!

Interesting....

Maybe someone will write a Spoof Musical featuring all the celebs that have been locked up in Prison in a fictional prison living together.

Think of who could be included

Amy Winehouse
George Michael
Jonathan King
Gary Glitter
Pete Doherty
and that is just a few.

You could give them all songs in their own style about Prison style and they engage Max Clifford as their PR in order to persuade the public to let them out - in a sort of reverse Big Brother.

CELEBRITY PRISON !

Now come on Channel 4 - what a great idea !! ( obviously the real celebs would not play themselves.....but there would be plenty of people who would be willing to act in this and sing !

At the end of the series the public could vote who stays in at the end !! ( all in the best possible taste as Kenny E would say ! )
