The Coalition has just WON the next General Election ! 13 Years, 6 Months ago
Notice how the usual bally-hoo in the House lessened when Labour realised they had lost the argument (and the plot?)

All right-thinking people will applaud the Spending Review ... it is balanced, sensible and spreads the hurt evenly.

Only the scroungers will oppose it .................

Very simplistic. For example, a family where the only earner has beeen made redundant and is unable to find new work; do you not think they might oppose it?

I think they may be intelligent enough to realise that exactly the same cuts would have been made by Labour (who, of course, caused the problem)!

Without these cuts no one would have a job (as the country would be bankrupt).

I'm not a scrounger and I oppose it. I work very long hours and don't recieve any benefits, I have no children so don't get family allowance, although I still have to pay taxes so rich people can send their children to better schools.

The recent cuts will cause a double dip recession. Just as the economy is slowly re-building the government reduce everyone's spending power and thus stop the economy from growing. Also unemployment will increase massively. There is already 2.5 million unemployed, is Cammeron going for a new record.
I think wages should be cut for the top earners in society, instead of cutting the jobs of the lower paid. There is no justiication for anyone earning over £100,000 p/a in the public sector. Doctors wages should be slashed

You speak as though rich(er) people don't pay taxes ! Are you supporting the entire economy ?

The recent cuts will cause a double dip recession.

Says who? The Governor of the Bank of England doesn't seem to think the economy is (yet) growing.

Just as the economy is slowly re-building the government reduce everyone's spending power and thus stop the economy from growing.

This is lunacy !
Borrowing money - at inflated interest rates - just so we can pay someone to do a job that doesn't need doing?

Also unemployment will increase massively. There is already 2.5 million unemployed, is Cammeron going for a new record.

It's cheaper to pay someone JobSeekers Allowance than it is to pay them to make something that no one will buy !

I think wages should be cut for the top earners in society, instead of cutting the jobs of the lower paid.

Why drive the wealth makers away? They are the ones - generating income - that are probably keeping you in your job right now.

There is no justiication for anyone earning over £100,000 p/a in the public sector.

Correct (at last). That's why the Government is slashing so many (un-needed) jobs !

Doctors wages should be slashed

Doctors' (and nurses) pay in the USA (and other countries is far better than here. Why don't they all leave? Oooops - you've just destroyed your beloved NHS !

No one wants to see all these cuts ... they are taking place because the Labour Party lived in cloud-cuckoo land and used a credit card to "buy" things which they had no hope of ever paying back.

If you don't pay your debts your world will collapse .... the country is no different.

as an ex-Labour Party member you will get no argument from me about Nu Labour. Shockers. The lot of them. ( except St Tony Benn)

Debt in iteself isn't bad-otherwise no-one would have a mortgage or borrow to invest.

But there is a very solid case to be made that those at the lower end did not create the present shambles but are being made to pay for it.

Veritas

I concur about Tony Benn (who was once my MP !). A principled individual who was a real Labour politician (unlike the Champagne Charlies - and Postman Pat's they now have !)

Debt isn't bad - IF you can afford to repay it !
Remember in the last days of the Labour government when Mandy promised £90 million to Forgemasters in Sheffield (which just happens to be in Nick Clegg's constituency)? He must have known that there was no hope of anyone providing this money.

Similarly, Labour "signed-off" £38 BILLION pounds worth of orders for the MoD - again not knowing how they were going to be paid.

I also agree that the present situation is not (entirely) caused by those at the lower-end, but their constant "dipping in the till" with no plan to ever contribute, has to be curtailed.

Let's get one thing straight; the reason for these cuts is the scandalous banker bailout.

The deficit is what, £167 billion? Well, we gave the bankers nearly five times that amount.

You don't have to be an economist to recognise the real reason why were are in such dire straits.

And, it wasn't just here. All over the world, populations have been fleeced in what I am sure historians will come to view as one the biggest robberies of all time.

"And, it wasn't just here. All over the world, populations have been fleeced in what I am sure historians will come to view as one the biggest robberies of all time. "

I think-as the arch Conservative Republican Pat Buchanan said-"the Iraq War will be viewed as the greatest theft of all time-the biggest handover of public monies into private hands ever witnessed"

But the era of Regan/ Thatcher up to Bush/ Blair (Clinton was no exception) will be seen for what it was. A time when corporations became the rulers of the universe and governments were run for the benefit of private individuals.

It is the end of capitalism and it's how it was always predicted to end.

As for those at the bottom...grab every f**king penny I say. No-one will thank for not doing so including ITK.
