I'm very glad tonight I voted for a coalition.
What worries me is... will they survive the savaging by the ("it's a great story") media?

By then most of the debts will be repaid and the public will see big improvements everywhere.

When I say "will they survive?" I mean will they have the backbone to stand firm when the tabloids start their "Small child murdered by Cameron, Clegg and Osborne" stories?

I admire your optimism - but in other countries the cuts are deeper and we have a bigger debt....so read my post about the cuts possibly not being enough and why they could fail.

I agree the Co-alition has done well on this - but I dont think it is all over until the fat lady sings and she is sitting on the touchline until the debt is back where it was in 1997 before Blair and Brown started their spending spree and mortgaged the future.....

Has anyone got the DEBT repayment table ? by when will the debt be paid ?

IF they keep pushing the "this is all Labour's fault" message, then there is no where else for the electorate to turn to, is there ?

personally I am all for furture generations paying for us. Whoever said the f**ckers should get a free ride on our hard work ?

It really is touch and go whether civilisation will survive another 50 years. Make the most of it I say !

I couldn't disagree more. There is nothing sensible about these cuts. The public sector powers the economy by keeping demand stable. Cut jobs in the public sector and you also cut jobs in the private sector. Moreover these cuts are disproportionally directed at the working class. While I agree that people should not be living on benefits when they are capable of working, the solution to this is to expand the public sector not contract it and then and only then cut benefits ie when there are decent jobs to put these people in.

The claim that there is no alternative to these cuts is an much of a lie as the claim that we are all equally in this together. The alternative is to put taxes up. Simple.

Also increasing the overseas aid spending is a cynical ruse to gloss over the unfairness of the cuts. Of course we should not be throwing money at other countries when we need it at home.

Cutting jobs is the very worst way of helping the economy.

Little has changed since FDR saved America from the Depression.

He created millions of jobs by massive spending.

When he was convinced by corporate interests to cut back after a few years, the USA began to slide quickly back into recession.

He hit the spend button again in massive infrastructure spending.

As a result the USA boomed for the next 50 years until silly old Reagan came into power as a president for corporate interests.

I am PROUD of the fact that the UK is the first and so far ONLY country to honour its pledge to help the poor worldwide.

Anyone who thinks the "poor" in this country are on the same level as those desperate starving people abroad is simply insane !

Even those at the lowest level of society in the UK have a standard of living light-years better than some of the rest of the world (and one has to wonder - why are they at the lowest level??? MMMmm ?).
