Janet Street Porter enjoyed the death of Kenny Everett 13 Years, 6 Months ago
Well, this is strange. Even though Janet Street Porter went on the Kenny Everett Show and had her teeth and accent mimicked by him and some impersonator (who I forget, could it be Strictly's Pamela Stephenson?) and knew exactly what she getting herself into, she still enjoyed his slow lingering death from Aids:

I just read the article and she did not mention AIDs or his slow lingering death. She said "I did a little dance of joy around the kitchen when he finally departed". This implies that she was gals d that he had died, not that she enjoyed his suffering from AIDSas you conclude.

CAN we STOP the BR trend of SENSATIONALISING and EXAGGERATING what people say.
Because on the one hand you criticise the tabloids for doing THIS and then PROCEED
to make MOUNTAIN out of a MOLEHILL. JSP NEVER said she ENJOYED the slow lingering
DEATH of Kenny Everett. MODERATOR WTF ARE YOU DOING ?

Aha - Emoticon Man is back! Yes, I know what she said (I didn't 'conclude' what you suggest). Personally I think what she wrote was pretty sickening.

Slightly baffled wrote: So, she didn't enjoy that he died a long protracted death; only that she was glad he died. Oh,well, that makes it alright, then!!!
I was not commenting on the rights and wrongs of Miss Porters views. i was highlighting an obvious twisting of Miss Porters words, saying that she was glad he had died is rather different than saying she was glad he had suffered as the OP (Quiet Observer) falsely reported. I am afraid I am an advocate of accurate reporting.

Well I've just read Janet's article and I found it rather amusing. I don't think she meant her Kenny Everett comments to be taken as relating to AIDS. Rather the article was about taking pleasure in revenge.

I think Hamlet, doing a little dance around the table upon hearing of Kenny's death could be taken as her finding pleasure in him dying.
It's a typical Janet article where she yet again tries to be completely outrageous and fails miserably. Once it would have ensured outrage..now she will simply be ignored.

Last week I won a Kenny Everett tape. From 1981 it had David Essex, David Bowie and Moody Blues playing in the studio.
It was Brilliant!
Kenny pushed the bounds and the whole show is perfection. Hot Gossip, Marcel Wave and Sid Snot all making up for true entertainment. It showed up modern TV in a bad way.
What a shame that copyright issues prevent the full release of the shows. The only way to see them is on 1/4 century old videotapes.

I think most if not all of Ken's shows are out there on 'unofficial' DVDs, Teddy. I agree he was a great broadcaster (and, unlike most DJs today, he really could cope with the technical side of radio, too).

Janet should die a awful death I be happy for what she said about Kenny. I'm too young to remember him on tele but enjoyed the repeats, documentries and radio shows which can be downloaded.
Love his controversal campain true genius and true Kenny but I remember his death and my parents were upset about it as true fans they are.
Shame that a man who didn;t have many partners caught the deadly disease just on one incident. I know he had a difficult time with his homosexuality and was very depressed by it. Even his ex wife said he could make anyone feel depressed when he was down.
