What I find interesting is that the angle from the judges has changed. When John Sergeant was taking part they were in uproar that the competition was being jeopardised, it was unfair to the other contestants and that it ridiculed the show. Not this time. Popularity is going down and only Widdy can save them.

I think they realised, belatedly, that the angrier they got about Sergeant, the more popular he became.
John Sargant was a joke entry - WIDDY is actually dancing and entertaining - if she wins it then they will get a massive audience for the final. I think all your comments are spot on - they need her to keep the ratings and she is certainly delivering the goods. Her agent should negotiate a new fee ( ROONEY style ) to keep her in the show !
