Miscarriage of Justice - Protests in the news again 13 Years, 6 Months ago

This has been going on for years - as it should if they are innocent. The difference is now there is an access road to a major new shopping centre down this street which is why, so many years later, they are "infringing planning regulations"

A truly sad story.

The FIVE MEN should go in front of a JURY And the evidence should be presented.

This SMELLS of a POLICE COVER UP.

When the POLICE are against you they say that "Let the JURY decide and consider the case"

But when it is against the POLICE they do everything they can to stop it even going to court.

I believe this man.

The evidence should be presented and the good people of HULL should rally to this cause and blockade this road to SUPERMARKET traffic until the case is heard.

If the FIVE MEN have nothing to hide then they have NOTHING TO FEAR from a court hearing where they can prove their innocence.

OK, So I never said I wouldn't peruse the board, and this thread has tempted me out of my "retirement" because I'm familiar with the story. Or maybe I should say "used to be familiar with the story". I actually used to know these blokes - a little at least- when I worked on The Boulevard, which runs directly parallel to Coltman Street. And while I'm not in the slightest bit qualified to judge the rightness or wrongness of the verdict itself, I find it astounding that they're still hard at work with their protest this many years later. I always found them to be straightforward and apparently as honest as the day is long, with - yes - a very obvious sense of humour, sometimes very quirky. I remain - as I was years ago when the events concerned were fresher in the memory than they are now - in two minds about the case. No one who is not in possession of all the available facts could possibly judge Lyndon Coles' guilt or innocence, and I'm not in possession of those facts. But I have to say that I admire their grit. It's clear that there's no doubt in their minds.

LO -excellent post and interesting. Good to have you post. Your input at this particular time would be very useful because there are many things which I would be interested to hear your opinion on that are happening right now. Hope you can stay around at least until Christmas and post a bit more ( please ) The forum is not as good without you - it thrives on people having opinions - so that we can discuss things from all angles and views. Discussion to be useful needs to start with differing views where possible. So that we can all move towards a more informed conclusion. We all have starting points which are often lacking in knowledge and possibly from our own "biased" point of view - but the good thing about this forum is that we can discuss and agree to disagree or even change our minds without any shame or feeling stupid. It is about sharing "our views" with JK as our moderator/referee to make sure we all stay within the boundaries. That makes it the best place on the Internet in my opinion to think things through.

Good input there LO, thanks. The Coles' have been making this visible protests for as long as I can remember. Interesting to note that the brother of the murdered man has basically run amok the city ever since as some kind of mad "cartoon criminal", was recently convicted of several counts of fraud but never for what people *know* he founded his mini-empire on, a big fish in small murky pond (well, Hull is a pretty large city but one with a very "small-town" mentality.
