Cautionary tale for Credit Carders... 13 Years, 6 Months ago
I've fortunately never been cloned (except for ten years ago when the police raided my home - a week later £30,000 was tried, unsuccessfully, in Paris; crooks stick together) but my card was stopped last week - unauthorised use.
I contacted them - had I used it for purchases at "tsi"?
They tried several times.
Nope. So my card was blocked; new one issued.
Next day it dawned on me. TFL - Transport for London; phone person can't speak (F pronounced S) or read (L mistaken for i)...

Ha! Registering my card on i-tunes caused chaos - apparently they charge 1p or something to test the card, then credit it back (I know nothing of these things!). Anyway, within minutes the card's fraud squad decided this was 'suspicious' and telephoned me. As I wasn't at home at the time they froze my card. It took me a couple of days to sort it all out. It's quite reassuring there's security, but it's a bit TOO attentive at times!

oh the 1p trick has happened to me 3 times but the credit company is on to it.
Everytime I return from Asia I get a call asking if a $5K purchase is legit..and I never use cards now except at top hotels.
