Janet {bloody} Street {bloody} Porter...
Absolutely 110 percent right. Never thought I'd say that. But then again maybe I'm just looking at her in a more favourable light because she was sitting opposite that grinning, smirking piece of self satisfaction that is the smugbucket Hazel Blears. Twisted truths and perverse logic ever her forte, the repellent little ogre appeared at one point to suggest that compensation being sought by British former Guantanamo prisoners was outrageous and completely undeserved. Why, she wondered, did they feel they should get more in compensation than British troops get for serving in Afghanistan? Losing one's freedom for years with no charges ever being laid, and regularly having the shit kicked out of you by US soldiers or drowned out of you by CIA operatives without so much as a squeak of protest from the UK Government is, apparently, something that we should feel no need as a nation to either recognise or apologise for. This woman still sits in Parliament. Given that her views on this and other issues are well known, I think it probably says as much about the majority of her voting constituents as it does about her. I need to lie down now.

Well, I'm with her about the royal hype, but my god she's bad at preparing an argument. It collapsed more or less immediately once Neil and Portillo started responding - not because she wasn't aiming at the right target, but she just hadn't thought it through. She's a typical hack like that - about 30 seconds thinking time, then tap-tap-tap for half an hour, press 'send,' job done. It's best they don't actually try to debate the stuff they write.
