There are no jobs out there ! 13 Years, 5 Months ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1332100...inally-gets-job.html

We keep hearing that millions will come off benefit and so on.....

Where are the jobs for these people ? Locally to me when the Doctor's surgery advertised for a receptionist they have over 100 applications. I have not see an advert in a window for Shop staff for nearly 2 years - there used to be several around here all the time for even part time work - that has dried up as well.

With nearly a million being laid off in the next 12 months and the real unemployment rate being massaged by

5 million on sickness benefits
3 million signed on as SelF Employed ( how many make money ? )
4 million Part Time workers

Leaving a workforce of around 10 million in a country of near 70 million people. Which means only 1 in 7 is "employed" as such.

How are we going to create even the 1 million new jobs when worldwide demand is still falling and inflation is rampant reducing profits and therefore any investment is eroded before it can even create growth.

Remember inflation erodes growth as well. So we need around 3% growth with 2% inflation to create a sustainable economic model.

At the moment growth is less than 1% and inflation is around 7% for power and materials and food. This means the ecomomy and living standards are retreating by around 6% each year - surely the biggest drop in any of our lifetimes except the early 70s and early 80s.

It is hidden by our massive wealth and borrowing through the 80s to 2001 which has given everyone equity to spend from their houses - so we have even those on benefit with big plasma screens and designer clothes and foreign hols.

This must be on the verge of ending - and 2011 and 2012 will see some sort of collapse in living standards where people start to cancel foreign hols and going out and even buying new clothes and new white goods. After all how many TVs can you watch at once - do people need a new mobile EVERY year ? With power becoming more expensive and fuel - will we see even more cutbacks on the roads and home consumption.

Being "Green" is now not an option for most people. It is a way of life in order to save money. Most of us are guilty of wasting money on non essentials all the time......maybe we should audit our spending now in order to see where our "Own" cuts can be made - seriously if you are not cutting back in non essential areas then next year will come as a massive shock to many.

If this poor man applied to 2,000 jobs - and he has skills and previous good work under his belt - how on earth can an unemployed person in their 30s+ ever expect to work again in the UK unless they know someone or have a massive stroke of luck.

There are MILLIONS who at the moment think they will never work again. Cameron needs to speak to them and be honest with them - he needs to go and get alongside a street in a high unemployment area and work with say 30 families in a PRIME MINISTERIAL project to see whether they get any work and to see how their future progresses. Otherwise all his words are empty and lack substance in the same way that BLAIR's did.

I have had enough of politician's spinning stories - however heartfelt they are and I believe Blair and Cameron both wanted to improve things. The reality is so different to the rhetoric. I am afraid that for the first time more people in the UK could see their future being on benefit for the rest of their lives.

That is not because they are workshy or lazy - it is because no one will employ them because they cant afford to give them a job.

everything you say is correct.

If a huge swag of money is taken out of the economy by stopping benefits en masse, the economy will go into a downward spiral that could take years to recover from.

Even announcing those cuts can do this and announcing the housing benefit cuts could shatter the property market. Property in the UK is grossly over-valued. It's ready for a plunge and a scare could do it.

all these cuts will be quietly shelved...believe me. Never wrong.

when George Souris and Warren Buffett start saying the rich need to be heavily taxed it's for one reason only-to actually protect themselves and their assetts. They know how the economy works and are not idealogically blinkered.
