Q: Who can legally abuse children by beating them with no recourse to any legal action ? 13 Years, 5 Months ago
There has been a worry in the back of my mind all week after the Fees March the other day.
Brilliant GUARDIAN article

www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/nov/25/studen...choolgirls-definace#

It was the image of Riot Clad police pulling out their batons and smashing them over the heads of little 14 and 15 year old girls dressed in their school uniform. Giving them a good beating and totally out of control.

So if you or I decided to smash a schoolchild over the head or on the arms or on the hands what would happen to us ? would we be charged with Child Abuse ? violence ?

So far I have seen not one arrest on any Policeman for these actions. So it is safe to say although the protesters can be arrested if they as much as kick a window or scrawl graffiti or throw a punch at the Police - when it comes to the other way around the Police are BEYOND THE LAW AS USUAL even though TV and Media Coverage clearly shows them beating children indiscriminately.

Now if this is justified by the situation - then surely that is an argument that the protester can use in their defence - they were only responding to violence being rained on them by people "dressed to be violent" using "weapons". None of the children protesting seemed to have any weapons at all of any sort I might add - so the Police were only responding to the shouts and pushing of the schoolchildren - which is a normal thing every morning in bus Qs around the capital - and yet we dont see Bus Drivers or pensioners pulling out batons and charging the kids as they push and shove to get on the bus in their uniforms.

The Police have provided an image of what the UK is now like. Middle class peaceful schoolgirls and boys protesting in a non violent way then being KETTLED and BATON CHARGED with HORSES to show the "macho" Police State is in charge.

It is like taking a Nuclear Weapon to attack a village in the middle of the Amazon when faced with spears and stones. Totally out of proportion.

Our society is breaking down live on TV - the protesters were not big burly miners of 1980s or radical political activists of the 1990s but a bunch of little kids worried about their futures and prepared to give democracy a chance.

What have they learned ?

That there is no democracy in the UK. Instead of being applauded by the Police and State - they were treated as a major threat and enemies of the Country - when in fact they are the future.

I do hope we see some arrests of the over zealous Police in the coming days in order for them to prove that there is not one rule for them and another for schoolchildren. But I fear this is the case.
