The heat is getting to them it seems - and they don't like it when someone points out how incomptent they appear to be !

From Sky News - Police investigating the murder of Joanna Yeates barred ITV News journalists from a briefing after the station broadcast a report critical of the inquiry.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary accused the channel of "unfair, naïve and irresponsible reporting" over a piece which aired on News at Ten on Tuesday, and has complained to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

ITV News was the only media organisation excluded from the news conference, at which police revealed Miss Yeates was missing a sock when she was found and made a fresh witness appeal.

The police force suggested it had banned the station because the story - which raised concerns police inconsistencies in the handling of the case - might "hamper" the investigation.

The report by Geraint Vincent claimed detectives were no closer to finding her killer 10 days after her body was found and questioned whether officers had followed procedure.

I watched that report by Geraint Vincent and thought it was absolutely excellent; one of the best news features in ages. At one point he showed bottles and plastic cups from the scene where the body was found and asked "why weren't these collected and DNA swabs taken?".

I think they thought they could stitch up the English Teacher.

This is typical of Policing in the UK in 2010. The Police "elect" a suspect and then try and frame them.

They have been totally caught out this time because the media has stopped "believing" the Police ( like the rest of us )

ITN has shown themselves to be ahead of the game and ahead of the Police. Therefore, the only news organisations they allow to the press conference are those who still pretend that everything is ok......proves that the BBC is totally at one with incompetent policing.

They need a breakthrough and we must not forget the poor family of the victim who need some sort of answers - but we have to face the fact that this murderer seems to have got away with the crime so far and possibly in 1974 as well in which case they are looking for a serial killer who will obviously be good at hiding their tracks.

They need to do a reconstruction fast and put it on TV. So that perhaps someone's memory can be jogged.......

The more I think about this the more shocking it is. Not only do the police want to monitor / control almost every aspect of our lives - but they want protection too - from their own errors, incompetence, and downright wrongdoing.

The Stazi would be proud !
