TOPIC: an 'independent' media

an 'independent' media 13 Years, 3 Months ago
the hacking story that is still slowly burning is a good example why a diverse and independent media is a necessity for a free society.

The USA once wonderfully diverse media is being gobbled up by the right wing. Britain still has one but only just.

Murdoch has created nothing,,apart from Fox News which is a dangerous parody of a 'news' network.

All he has ever done is acquire already successful networks or newspapers with other people's money. They say he is a great juggler of money..former insiders say the opposite. That he has no qualms and is more like a buccaneer...he has endless corporations in other countries that sustain the myth that one part of his empire is profitable and can provide figures to justify the huge loans he is able to get from be-dazzled bankers.

Alan Bond learnt this trick. He bought the Sydney Hilton Hotel on a loan and $100K deposit. One year later he announced he had sold it for a $200M profit to a Hong Kong corp. The Hong Kong corp was his hidden in a maze of trusts. There was no money..no $200M but Bond went onto borrow that much again and so on. The media lapped up his every word and promoted him unthinkingly.

When Bond went bust he had destroyed thousands of people's savings..about 12 committed suicide.

Murdoch is out to destroy the BBC and will not give up. He sees other media as competition to be destroyed in his quest for his oligarchy.

one indicator of the state of News Corp-his daughter just sold her 'production' company Shine to News Corp for $800M. Shine has hardly done anything..a bloated price. It looks like the family is grabbing shareholder's money before Murdoch kicks the bucket.
