Adam Curtis has compiled some BBC reports about Murdoch (1968-88).

I rather like Rupert - but then I'd probably like Satan; and God. I tend to like interesting people. I can't stand the 99% ordinaries.

Murderoch & his heinous offspring are perhaps the ultimate cunts. Interesting he might be, but he's had a massive hand in turning the UK media (tv, radio, print) to shit, which in turn is haemorrhaging society. I'd like them more if they were dead though.

A strange man who claims to be deeply conservative and shocked by many things like his own Page 3 girls yet once he saw the profit generated put his qualms aside.

Nor is he always correct except with his decision to play to the lowest common denominator which is always successful. Thought the invasion of Iraq =would lead to very cheap oil.

I think he loves toying with politicians of all stripes. He can be viciously vindictive as some politicians have found, has no loyalty to any country.

Watch the carve up of News Corp when he goes..it will be fascinating. Problem-his mother is still alive at 101 !

The story of how Murdoch got to takeover the NoTW is a good example of how the man operates.

When he wanted to buy NoTW he was forbidden to take money out of Australia and the then PM Sir John Gorton refused to relax currency controls for him.

He did a deal with the leader of one party that Gorton was in a coalition with. That leader brought on a party room spill.

On the day of the party room vote Murdoch ran an "expose' in the only national newspaper (owned by him).

It said Gorton was best pals (which he was ) with a journalist known as a 'communist' who was being investigated by the secret services as a spy.

It was basically a fabrication and beat-up but it worked-Gorton lost by one vote and the new PM immediately relaxed currency controls.

That's how he works-ditch a PM if it's good business for Murdoch and bugger everyone else !
